WACO, Texas, March 25 (UPI) -- A young Texas woman decided there is no such thing as bad publicity when she considered names for her Waco eatery and decided on Fat Ho Burger.
The restaurant opened Tuesday, and Lakisha Evans' plan seems to be working so far, KENS-TV in San Antonio reported. She has a straightforward business plan.
"My burgers, they're cheap. They don't go over 6 bucks because I thought, you know, I grew up in poverty," Evans said.
Evans, 23, grew up in Waco with her mother and five siblings. She is the only one in the family to graduate from college.
The whole family is working at Fat Ho Burgers, but Evans said she had to invest everything she owned to start it.
"I had to sell my car, my tires, my TV, my laptop, my computer. I had to sell all this to get this up," she told KENS.
The name is bringing in the customers.
"I was just wondering is this the famous place we can get burgers at," one asked.
Just an interesting note, looking on Google Maps, I found that the restaurant is located just one block from a Planned Parenthood facility. Since the owner is black, this is probably a predominantly black neighboorhood. Go figure.

“House burger”, bwhahaha, I forgot that part! My mom wasn’t quite as bad, but she’d always undercook the burgers so they were pink in the middle and all the grease and blood would run out and make that pink bready mess Eddie talked about, though we usually did get buns at least!
It would be neat if that Diners, Drive Ins and Dives guy pays her a visit. We need good news stories like this.
Ah, that’s reassuring. That part of the movie was hilarious, I think I was too big dying of laughter to even want to know her name. I wonder if her “business” has picked up due to her celebrity?

the $6 dollar burger is 4 patties, 3 cheese and bacon.
There are cheaper things on the menu.

It is right across the street from the projects and down the block from Planned Parenthood. The food and service are awful!
I hope she makes it. As a small business owner I know how much sacrifice is needed to make a successful business and it looks like she’s got her priorities straight.
In Nashville, we have Fat Mo’s.
I first watched it on a long flight (Air NZ doesn’t censor their films) and when a couple other passengers saw me crying with laughter and trying not to be too loud (with headphones on) they said, “You’re watching Borat, aren’t you.”
