The Fig Tree's the Clue

The Fig Tree's the Clue.

The untimely figs in this verse are “Olynthos”, figs that grow through the winter, yet do not completely mature until spring; they are fragile and many fall off in the spring wind. This scripture suggests that when Satan is cast down to earth the figs (raptured saints) will be taken away by a mighty wind (the Holy Spirit)

KJV, period.

Well, that might explain how you got seduced by the spirit of fortune-telling / pythonus / divination. God gave us the Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, not archaic English.[1] Refuse to use God's Word God's way, use it as a ouija board for speculative games, and no telling what kind of weird results you'll come up with!
[1] Those who rely upon the KJV for their spiritual nurture like to have archaic and eat it, too.

Thank you for interjecting. There are just some things I can’t allow myself to let go of, although I’ve asked and begged for forgiveness many a time.

I just don’t feel like I’m worth His forgiveness.

I think if you keep on guessing dates one day you will be right!

Can’t read Hebrew, Aramaic, nor Greek, and so relying on an inline translation of those is better than the KJV? I feel so enlightened now, thank you. Insult me more.

Bump for later reading. I was looking out my kitchen window this morning at my fig tree and thinking about the Lord. In Arizona we had a colder than normal winter season. Did’nt lose any leaves on that tree and it looks so beautiful right now compared to all the rest of the trees.

I’ve been there. Don’t let the enemy steal your joy. Stay close to the Lord every minute by talking to Him and sharing everything that is in your heart with Him. Worship Him in Spirit and in truth. You will be amazed when you realize you have His ear. He’s continually knocking and waithing for us to acknowledge Him.

“I just don’t feel like I’m worth His forgiveness.”

You are humble.

Proverbs 18:12
Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

Perhaps you should know of what He was talking about when that statement was made. The following verse may help you. Check out who should be surprised.

Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. (1 Thes. 5:1-4)

There is a very good write up on the subject here Remember, scoffers are referred to in scripture also.

“If you ask for forgiveness, but you do not forgive yourself, does He still forgive you?”

God’s mercy is greater than human mercy, and if you are in his grace, then when you fall, he will step in and lift you up. I think all Christians, even the Apostles, have to struggle with the fact that it is more difficult for us to forgive ourselves than it is for God to forgive us.

Something that helped me is to think of it like this: God is our true Father, loving us more perfectly than any earthly parent. When you are a child and fall and hurt yourself, you run to your parent, not away from them. So, with God, when we fall, we should run to him, without fear that He will turn away from us.

The fear that we feel is a trap of the enemy, for he is the one who wants to convince us that God is angry with us and won’t forgive. We should rightly fear God, for that is the beginning of loving God, but once we have that love and faith, then we can approach God in humility without fear, through the ministration of Christ.

“Now it gets interesting.....”

I think, with our limited perspective and capacity for understanding, compared to the supreme God, we have to accept some things like what you are talking about as a “Mystery”, as the Bible puts it. We can accept the truth of the nature of God, so far as He has revealed Himself to us, but to think that truth will conform to our expectations or reasoning is a human conceit.

Jesus said, “But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you ALL THINGS” (Mk. 13:23). He also said, “there is NOTHING hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath” (Mk. 4:22-25).

In the scripture in Mt. 24:36 quoted above, the word “knoweth” is present tense. In that day, no man knew. Jesus did not say we would never know. He also said, “Watch.”

If we are not faithful and wise stewards, “The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder (cut him off), and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers” (during the Tribulation). Mt. 24:51 has, “appoint him his portion with the hypocrites (pretenders): there shall be WEEPING AND GNASHING OF TEETH.”

If we trust in the Lord we will forgive ourselves- true repentance is a true change of heart so we do not go back to what we needed to change. Assuming one is doing the best they can, really doing the best they can- the Lord forgives that person- who are we individually to tell the Lord He is wrong, He should not forgive us because we KNOW we are beyond forgiveness? A person needs to take a deep breath and move on.

I firmly believe if Satan can convince us we are not worthy of forgiveness, he has a great tool to keep us down in the muck of self-doubt with no spiritual progress forward.
