American Viet Nam General

Posted on 03/21/2011 10:11:52 AM PDT by 70th Division

I need help. I am looking for the name of the General in Viet Nam that operated as an insergant. He stalked the NVA. He would keep a company back to train and hone their skills in reconance and tactacts. The rest would be in the field practicing what they learned. He stalked the enemy, would set up fake drop off points and hike for miles when the enemy thought they were somewhere else.

I read about him several years ago and lost his name. thanks for the help from all you vetrans and war buffs.

Is it the Phoenix Program you’re thinking of?

Colonel Lewis L. Millett worked on that for awhile.
