To be honest, I was thinking of comparisons to 9-11, principally of so many lives swept away in an instant and their family members perhaps wandering for days carrying photos of people who will never be found - whose remains might never be found - as if they just vanished from the earth.
Not funny, I know. But that’s the comparison that came to mind.
I completely agree that the deaths of innocents are not something to be compared on some kind of sick spread sheet, but during yesterday’s broadcasts the qudience was reminded that the 2004 tsunami killed 230,000 people. Nearly a quarter-of-a-million people wiped out in the virtual blink of an eye.
