Thanks for allowing me to rant on this. Ever since my wife brought this information home from work I have been getting madder & madder. The more time I spend online reading the thousands of tales of woe caused by these evil filth. I truly hope no other Freeper ever has to deal with these criminals.

Why would any company waste time with anything but direct deposit or paper checks for their payroll?
To: fuzzybutt
Ummmm, it’s called direct deposit. If they offer putting all your money on a card then they should offer direct deposit into your account. If they don’t I’d report them to the better business bureau. I’d even contact your local congresscritter too. You are entitled to your pay on payday, not be given some card that has a bunch of fees attached to it.

My workplace offered this or you had to do direct deposit. See if your wife can do that instead.
and it is 3 miles to the nearest one
3 miles is not that big a deal. Just take out all your money in cash each week and be done with it.

“”there are endless stories, postings & complaints about this underhanded & immoral flimflam””
I googled Money Network and don’t see what you refer to above. All I see are people selling that service. Can you point us to more complaints about this setup?

Are the ATMs attached to a bank? Can you get an account at that bank and transfer the money in, then transfer it to your own bank?

In my experience, when companies start screwing with their payroll, they usually shut the doors before too long. Your wife might want to seek other employment.

Since she's working for a big corporation, won't they allow the option of direct deposit of her pay into your bank account?
When my son was receiving unemployment benefits from New York State, I was surprised that they were issuing the benefits via Citi Bank Visa debit cards.

I don’t know what state you live in, but you might want to contact the State’s Labor Dept., and/or the State Attorney General’s Office to see if what they are doing is legal.

Complain to the Federal Department of Labor and your state Department of Labor. They are making it difficult to get your pay and imposing unreasonable fees and restrictions.
Complain fast. I would be antsy about an employer that puts its employees through something like this. So travel the three miles and get all your money immediately every payday.

Does your wife receive a pay stub? If not, that is illegal. Also, even if she does receive a pay stub, it is illegal to charge a fee to ascertain if the correct amount of pay is charged to her card (check her balance as soon as pay is deposited on the card).

This is illegal. Employers are required to pay a person directly and not a third party. Most, if not all States, have laws about having to pay to receive pay.
