Did the Republican's make a mistake in Wisconsin?
My hubby | 3/9/2011 | MsLady

My hubby said he thinks the republican's screwed up in Wisconsin. He said he thought public opinion would turn against them now. He thought they should have just waited the democrats out and let them sweat it out in IL. Comments and keep in nice :) it's late and I don't feel like getting yelled at.

Totally disagree. The media’s constant drone against Walker was starting to take a toll and they needed to end this asap. IN fact I think they should have done it last week.

No, get it over with and the public will calm down. If the money problems are handled then the public will generally be happy.

Public is more concerned about high gas prices than Wisconsin.

I think they showed too much restraint in not doing this sooner. Even if they’d waited for their return, the pubbies would still be castigated. the pubbies, while holding the majority, have not done a good enough PR job.

ehhhh... they wasted enough of the taxpayer money 3 weeks of taxpayer money AWOL in Illinois on paid vacation, now doing the job they were elected to do. Republicans did nothing wrong, they followed the letter of the Wisconsin constitution.

Your husband is wrong. Once all is said and done Wisconsins non union tax payers won’t feel anything except they will have more money in their pockets. For them nothing will change so the sooner the policy is enacted the better.

I think they did the only thing that they could do under the circumstances. Compromise was not an option.

Many thought Reagan made a mistake when he fired the Air Traffic Controllers who struck illegally. It turned out to be one of his most notable victories.

I think they could have and should have done what they did today as soon as the Dems fled.

Well, he’s wrong. Dems pulled a stunt, knowing they were beaten politcally. They were outmaneuvered. Similar measures are passing in other states across the nation. We’ll see where public opinion stands when union goons show their true colors in the coming days/weeks.

I think this is a HUGE victory for Walker and the GOP.

The only "mistake" I am worried about is whether or not they broke the rules by not waiting 24 hours like the RAT Minority Leader claimed. It would be a shame to lose this on a technicality in the courts. Of course, the RAT could just be lying through his teeth.

Anybody know for sure whether or not passing the bill in the way they did violated any procedural rules?

Ok, but, I think my hubby made a good point. I want to know why he would be wrong? I’m actually hoping he is wrong. I suppose time will tell.

No, the governor looked bad because of all this because it seemed that nobody was in control. This had to end.
