AccuWeather's Joe Bastardi surprises many with his resignation
Radio Info ^ | 3/5/11

Posted on 03/05/2011 8:37:33 PM PST by My Favorite Headache

He had been with AccuWeather for 32 years, helping to create the company that supplies radio and TV stations with weather forecasts and updates. Meteorologist Bastardi was AccuWeather's top long-range forecaster and was regularly seen handling hurricane predictions.

Now he has tendered his resignation, effective immediately. The company simply says that "Joe Bastardi is no longer with AccuWeather. You won't see more forecasts posted by him." Bastardi was known for his videos and forecasts on the pay-subscription "AccuWeather Pro" site.

He was also known for his disbelief of the theories of global warming. A Facebook page created by fans has a "Farewell to Joe Bastardi" page, with tributes pouring in that you can read here.

Landmark energy savings targeted for Empire State Building

They claim a $20 million energy project is going to save $4 million a year.

A 5 year break-even time?? I can't believe that.

Liberals are allowed to claim whatever they want, as long as they have good intentions.

There are many reasons why he may have left the company. Probably the most overlooked is that AccuWeather is a very difficult employer to work for.

Privately owned, Joel Myers and his brothers Barry and Evan run the company. Every single employee is required to sign a contract that is very restrictive, written by lawyer Barry. He also writes the contracts signed by clients. I don’t know it it is still the case, but at one time AccuWeather filed more lawsuits in Centre County court than any other entity.

I expect to see Joe the recipient of a lawsuit in the near future.

Joe wouldn’t promote the AGW lie. Accuweather does.

In energy-scam speak, I believe the word "targeted" exempts any project from reality-based estimates in anticipation of that inevitable moment when the awful truth finally rears its ugly head.

For Gaia!!

And Coleman is 100% correct....when I saw the different blizzards going on this Winter and these field TV weather guessers were out there saying this was directly due to global warming...I just about shot my TV out.

I wasn’t the only one calling him out. And if you look at his posting history, you’ll get a clue about what kind of poster he is.

FOX Weather Network?.... I like it.

Now if they would just start a FOX Entertainment News Network and get rid of all that Charlie Sheen crap and cover the real news 24/7, I would be able to watch FOX News more, rather than less.

Bastardi played a tough game against Mann.....hooking, slashing, cross checking, boarding......and.....Inglewood Jacking.....and then the Gourmet Shot.

Nice reporting, Puckster!

OH! LOL at me!

I knew that. ;o)

I was thinking that I had missed something.

If that is the reason, then I admire him for resigning.

My daddy was a meteorolgist, and he denied global warming until his death.

I hope we have a Fox Weather Channel.

Perhaps he is retiring?

Generally you give notice of retirement well in advance, and may spend at least some time grooving in your replacement. At minimum, you give a couple weeks notice. Look at the phrasing:

Now he has tendered his resignation, effective immediately. The company simply says that "Joe Bastardi is no longer with AccuWeather. You won't see more forecasts posted by him."
It strongly hints of a very acrimonious parting.
