SOUTHEAST TEXAS - A pop ballad and rock singer from Port Arthur who became known for performing the song "Running Bear" has died.
Johnny Preston Courville, 71, died at Baptist Beaumont Hospital Friday afternoon, according to his son, Scott Preston.

Those were the days, along with dancing The Stroll, the Chicken, and the Twist, along with slow dancing with the guy or gal with whom you were "going steady."
The wild kids got ahold of beer or booze, cigarettes and cars that had names you gave them painted cooly on them. That's the worst it got.
I wasn’t born yet when the song was released but I remember hearing it on the radio as a child. I loved it.
