Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin clarified remarks posted on Twitter this week in response to a Supreme Court ruling in favor of a church that demonstrates at military funerals, saying she was making a point about a double standard on free speech, not that the group shouldnt have the right to protest.
Her quote was interpreted by many news outlets, including The Daily Caller, to mean that she disagreed with the Supreme Courts ruling, although in a new statement exclusive to TheDC, Palin said she agreed with the ruling in favor of the church.
Obviously my comment meant that when were told we cant say God bless you in graduation speeches or pray before a local football game but these wackos can invoke Gods name in their hate speech while picketing our military funerals, it shows ridiculous inconsistency, Palin told TheDC. I wasnt calling for any limit on free speech, and its a shame some folks tried to twist my comment in that way. I was simply pointing out the irony of an often selective interpretation of free speech rights.

I disagree. First, you don't have to be a liberal to qualify as a "pea brain", secondly the majority of those (who are not liberals) who will vote in 2012 do not follow Palin or politics as much as we do. When she says something, they retain what she said the first time and not her explanation the following day.
Gov. Palin cannot STFU if she's going to be in debates so she had better be able to say what she means during the debates without having to run to the microphones the next day to extinguish political flames.
What gaffes???
And you know what she meant too, dude
So get real.
What pattern of clarification? prove it!
Where did she say that she disagreed with the Supreme Court ruling in the first place? prove it!
Just because some of the media runs with something somebody said as meaning something else when she clearly didn’t even express what they interpret it to be is wrong to put the blame on her is wrong on you
No, she doesn't. Her very biggest weakness, is her propensity for saying things that must later be "clarified" the very next day.
Lickspittles like you are not her problem: she needs to win over the people who think she's an idiot. This sort of thing doesn't help her at all.
So now we are comparing a tweet to a debate??
Come on.
Then why does she continuously have to explain what she meant the next day?
Gee,a 2010 freeper/punk without a clue about FR for the past 10 years. No wonder so many of the freepers have left this site years ago.At least postings can be tracked these days.
She should give it a rest and stop pretending to be the smartest one in the room.
She’s got my vote despite her gaffes I know how well she did as Governor in Alaska. But these gaffes will lose her votes against Obama. That’s what concerns me.
People, people, what does it say directly under the “Post” button?
Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
Don’t underestimate a tweet. Look what a tweet got us for President in 2008.
May be we need some new blood around here because some of the old blood ain’t cutting it. Their PDS is down right scary.
Is it true that their demonstration was 1,000 feet away from the funeral?
You guys still can’t prove what she said in the first place was wrong or in the context of what some describe it as - all you can do is misinterpet something that is right in front of your eyes lol!
- so obviously maybe you are the one pretending!
This is why one should not try to make any kind of serious statement on Twitter. That is such a silly way to respond to any kind of controversy. It almost guarantees a necessity to clarify what was “tweeted”.
I don't need to prove it. The proof is the title of this thread itself.
Palin (and others on our side) are going to have to be very clear the first time and say what they feel and not leave any room for the media to be able to alter or modify the meaning of what they said.
The fact that she had to clarify herself is proof enough Einstein.
Exactly! She's got my vote. She'd have my vote even if Obama was not a tenth as bad as he is. Palin is a conservative and in the general election she's got my vote. Not because she's a republican but because I know she would do very well based on her performance in Alaska.
I'd LOVE a President Palin. I just worry about a candidate Palin.
I don’t think that is true. What happen is, Palin will say something. The media will claim she said something opposite to what she said. She comes out and attack the media for lying. Media then claim that she changed her view. The confusion was not created by her, but her critics who constantly lie, on purpose mind you, because if you go to her original quote and not some edited version, its pretty clear what she meant
