I'm thinking about getting a tablet and wondering whether the xoom would be better than the Ipad.
I do. I have one.
Wait. What is a xoom?
Oh. Never mind.
No idea of that of which you speak. But good luck with the incoming.

If it has a keyboard its got ipad beat.
It’s Motorola’s new tablet that just came out.
Would a stuned beeber do?
The thing I see about the Xoom is the age old problem of one size fits all. And that is it never fits anybody.
had a little case of xoom this morning but a little imodium took care of it
I’ve played with one. I like it a lot. It is really fast.
“Would a stuned beeber do?”
That would work.
Motorola Xoom: To Buy or Not to Buy?

There’s an app for that. If there isn’t, make one.
My boss, our IT director, got one today. Very exciting!!!And yeah...FAST!
... with a static, nonmoving screen!
Pass.
We have the 3G 64 GB iPads and a new Galaxy Tab. Looked at the Xoom today, and held it side by side with the Tab. Tab wins!
Xoom runs Android 3.0, but is loaded with bugs. Tab runs Android 2.2 and is solid.
Tab is smaller, and fits in a large jacket pocket. No way can you get a Xoom or an iPad into your pocket.
Tab is used for texting and email as well as surfing. iPad can’t text, nor can it run most videos that show up. Tab runs them all.
Tab also has front and rear cameras.
Got the Tab mainly for texting, after our Grandchildren convinced us of the utility of texting. Wife loves it. Will need to get a second Tab though.
I messed around with a Xoom the other day at Best Buy. I love the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, but it’s kind of pricey - I think they’re going for around $599 with a two year contract.
The main difference between the Xoom and the iPad is the OS. Android is all open source-y which means that it doesn’t deliver quite as seamless a user interface as the iPad, where everything is all packaged and meant to work together. On the other hand, Apple is really picky about the apps they let you run on their devices - they’ve even banned a bunch of news/commentary apps because Apple doesn’t agree with the politics of the publications. That eliminates the iPad for me.
I love my Galaxy Tab- you can get one of those for around $250 with a two year contract- it fits in my coat pocket, and I use it pretty much every day on my train ride. I use it for work, too, but probably more for fun. The main difference between the two other than the price is the awesomeness of the Xoom’s 10-inch screen vs. the pocket-ability of the Galaxy’s 7-inch screen.
You’ll probably be happy with any of the three.
I think I’ll wait until Ipad II comes out but I like the Xoom over the present Ipad.
I am looking into the Xoom too. The IPad2 is supposed to be out this month, I think. I am not even sure why I am looking, but....
