I believe this one was bigger than any we saw during the winter!

The wind was blowing wildly and the hail was pounding on the front windows so hard I thought...look out! Luckily, nothing happened but, you're right, it was a Texas sized gully-washer!

There are only nine questions.

1. Name the one sport in which neither the spectators nor the participants know the score or the leader until the contest ends.

2. What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?

4. What fruit has its seeds on the outside?

6. Only three words in standard English begin with the letters ‘ dw’ and they are all common words. Name two of them.

7. There are 14 punctuation marks in English grammar.
Can you name at least half of them?

8. Name the only vegetable or fruit that is never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form except fresh.

9. Name 6 or more things that you can wear on your feet beginning with the letter ‘S.’

Excuse me - I'm sorry to say this
But I like SMALL dogs.
Their poop is easy to scoop up! LOL!

10 Things You Never Hear in Church

1. Hey! It's my turn to sit in the front pew!

2. I was so enthralled, I never noticed your sermon went 25 minutes over time.

3. Personally, I find talking about God much more enjoyable than golf.

4. I've decided to give our church the $500 a month I used to send to TV evangelists.

5. I volunteer to be the permanent teacher for the Junior High Sunday School class.

6. Forget the denominational minimum salary. Let's pay our pastor so they can live like we do.

7. I love it when we sing hymns I've never heard before!

8. Since we're all here, let's start the service early.

9. Pastor, we'd like to send you to this Bible seminar in the Bahamas.

10. Nothing inspires me and strengthens my commitment like our annual stewardship campaign!

PRAYER:

O Lord who has warned us that thou wilt require much of those to whom much is given, grant that we whose lot is cast in so goodly heritage may strive together more abundantly by prayer and by every other means to extend to others what we so richly enjoy, that as we have entered into the labors of other humans, we may so labor that others in their turn may enter into ours, to the fulfillment of thy holy will and the good of all humans.

A 4th century prayer

I missed 1&3. Guess I'm not too bright!

Boxing never entered my mind and had no clue about the pear. Yep...I learn something new every day!

Well, my local grocery store (Safeway) is now selling green peppers for $2.09 each! (Last year they had sales of 3/$1.00 almost every month or two!)

I refuse to pay that price - so I don’t buy them. I asked the produce manager how they can sell green peppers for that much - and he told me they don’t. They have to throw most out - as no one is buying them. I asked him why they don’t reduce the price after a couple days, and he told me, (and I quote him here), “Corporate will not allow us to reduce the price, and would rather throw them out, than sell them cheaper!”

So, when I was talking with the manager at Wal-Mart today, she told me she feels the same way - she won’t pay that high a price for them, - BUT - she tried the dried (dehydrated) peppers, and they are excellent - and one can is the equivelent of 141 servings for $10.

I will let you know, after I try them!

Same way at my grocer...it's not a major chain but the produce prices are ridiculous. The produce manager told me they are throwing out and I asked the same question...he said exactly what the Safeway guy said only he added..."We can take a loss on 'spoilage' but not for reduction of price".

They also have signs all over the produce dept about prices being what they are due to the freeze in Mexico! I asked him, "What about getting produce from California"? He just shrugged his shoulders!

All squash is $3.99lb. I REFUSE to pay it! Lettuce right now is $3.29 a head. Nope...I'll pass. I go over to the Deli and they sell me a 16oz. salad container of shredded lettuce for $0.50! lol

Aside from politics, I think we here in California have much for which to be thankful.

You're so right! My life has been blessed in so may ways, the good far outweighs the negative.

BTW-Just noticed your pics of the USS Oklahoma City. Remember having done some work orders on her during my Tender days.

It makes me sick to my stomach, what you said, “...We can take a loss on ‘spoilage’ but not for reduction of price”.

So..........people can go hungry and they throw the food out, take a ‘loss’ - which is better than marking it down, where it could be consumed..........

Perhaps it is time to swamp those ‘corporate headquarters’ with emails, letters, phone calls, and pass the word around on “TWITTER” and “FACE BOOK”!

The Mgr. at Wal-Mart told me they are starting to carry dehydrated food, because people are starting to get scared about what could be coming.

When I saw the hundreds of green peppers stacked up neatly, in my local grocery store, without a dent in the pile, I knew people weren’t buying them - and that should tell ‘corporate’ that those prices will not set well with the customers - and they should take steps to meet the public’s demand - not the cost/lost effect.

It’s ALWAYS about money - isn’t it?

Of course. That's actually what business is all about. Who can make money. We could all be starving however...when they don't have the customers maybe, just maybe, they will lower their prices. Then again, maybe not.

I'm getting curious about the dehydrated things you were talking about. I do things like garlic and onions so let us know how it goes and if it's worth the money.

LOL...

Well, actually, I think it must have started earlier than that... because I remember my grandmother saying pretty much the same thing... around 1950 or '51, I think it was.
