I apologize (again) for being off-schedule; I've had these pictures ready to go for awhile, but I haven't been ready to go. Also, look in the first comment for a REAL bonus.

Anyway, the hot springs at Dallol, Ethiopia have been very "wet" recently, due to anomalously high precipitation, leading to some really remarkable (other-worldly) scenery. Below are a few, with links to where the others are.

I had never heard of, nor read anything concerning, the Erta Ale volcano in Ethiopia, and was much interested to read about its phenomena.

Have you watched the series, On Volcanos of the World ? Fascinating double plus.
The series has been playing again recently. Discovery Channel I think.
This is one of the volcanos they feature. It’s in the middle of nowhere, very dangerous expedition.

Anyway, those pools are concentrated sulfuric acid.

Just looking on Google Maps for this volcano. Interesting. Just to the south is Lake Afrera(?). I’m trying to figure out what all those structures are lining the lake especially to the west...
