For later.
Once again, something is better than nothing but....
If I get any of these: “pop-eye, fin or tail rot, skin ulcerations, columnaris disease, and gill disease”, I’ve got more problems that I thought.
Fish-Mox is for aquarium use, I doubt the QA/QC process is as stringent for gold fish as it is for humans.
“Probably a dumb question, but is there a way to process chlorinated swimming pool water to render it potable?”
The Big Berkey water filtration system will take out chlorine and all pathogens. It will turn pond scum into 99.99% pure drinking water. They also offer an additional add on filter that takes out chloride and arsenic. We just took delivery of ours yesterday and have it all set up and ready to go. Costs $209.00 and they have a special on with the additional filters for free.

My primary survival advice:
A group is always more effective than an individual. Get to know your neighbors and which ones you can trust. Organize. Help each other.
One for the ping list.
Should add several pair of Good Walking shoes or boots to that list, because you would be doing a lot of it, and a normal pair of sneakers will wear out within a few months at best if you take your car out of your life. You don’t have to go back too far in history where you find battles going to the side that had shoes.
>>Antibiotics alone are not effective because they do not penetrate infected muscles sufficiently.<<
When it’s setting in, it hasn’t reached the point of amputation. It’s still treatable by anti-biotics.
Get some fish-mox and check the imprint on the tablet.
You’ll find it says, “West-Ward 938”
Google it.
Also, here’s a comment from a person on another forum having this very discussion:
“I have seen the post here and there about the “fishmox” and the other antibiotics that are for fish. I researched the manufactures website for the total list of ingredients. Indeed the active ingredients is the same medication as administered to humans. To check my findings, I consulted a clinical pharmacist here at work and asked him to take a look. He confirmed my results, “fish” and “human” medications are alike. He also told me that the “inert” ingredients are harmless to humans as well.”

One for the ping list.
Thanks for the resource.
It looks like some people use those systems for everyday use.
It may be prudent to show up at any food queues in your area, otherwise some wiser heads may ask, "Hey, why aren't the Xs here - they must have food of their own. Let's go fellas!"
Self ping for later read....

Wow... that website lists fluoxetine under Women’s Health as a tx for premenstrual disphoric disorder... that’s generic Prozac. I wonder if people even know what they are ordering?
We have a well, 120 feet deep and don’t have a hand pump. What we do have is water tanks which we currently fill up by turning on the well pump, then a 12 volt pressure pump to put it into the house. We did have gravity fed, and will again. We have a separate tank for drinking water, which is gravity fed into the house. The water is the same, but the drinking water tank is stainless steel. The other tanks are plastic, okay for potable water. We got several at farmers’ supply places. If the electricity goes off, most people with wells are really bad off. We also have a generator that runs the well pump, in fact we used it for about 3 years until we got electricity.
There is no work around for water. Ideally it would be great to have a clean stream or spring. But no such luck.
We have a generator for the house and a set up to just plug it in when we need it, but we need a generator for the well.
How big a generator does it take to run the pump on a well?
The secret is to not buy anything that you don’t use regularly, that you don’t normally store in your pantry. Then when you run out in the pantry closet, you go to your basement supply and then replenish the basement, not your pantry. You just keep cycling the food.
Interesting that unavailable in CA or IA.....I remember researching something similar a few months ago; the manufacturers don't want to screw with silly state over-regulations and get their asses sued off.
I’ll have to ask DH.
I know it’s a pretty big one. We haven’t used it in a few years since we got electric on the property. He should check it and make sure it still works.
We have a smaller one that can be used for lights, running computer, etc.
But in a long term situation we don’t want to use it - noise, stink (I can’t stand gas fumes), and neighbors then know you got stuff. So we have a lot of alternative lighting, propane camp stove, and we heat with a wood stove already.
