We have a well, 120 feet deep and don’t have a hand pump. What we do have is water tanks which we currently fill up by turning on the well pump, then a 12 volt pressure pump to put it into the house. We did have gravity fed, and will again. We have a separate tank for drinking water, which is gravity fed into the house. The water is the same, but the drinking water tank is stainless steel. The other tanks are plastic, okay for potable water. We got several at farmers’ supply places. If the electricity goes off, most people with wells are really bad off. We also have a generator that runs the well pump, in fact we used it for about 3 years until we got electricity.
There is no work around for water. Ideally it would be great to have a clean stream or spring. But no such luck.
We have a generator for the house and a set up to just plug it in when we need it, but we need a generator for the well.
How big a generator does it take to run the pump on a well?
