ron Dog racers spend countless hours preparing for and riding in the 2,000-mile snowmachine race -- the world's longest. It's also hard on their wives, but for former Alaska Gov. and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin it's part of the routine.
"It's stay out of the way," Palin said as her husband Todd Palin and his Iron Dog teammate, Eric Quam, worked on their sleds on a blustery Wednesday night in Nome. "Those who are closest to these guys know what they need to do."
(snip)
"I think these guys are the toughest men on the planet," Palin said. "Girly men don't ride the Iron Dog."

I understand.
I’m signing off now. I have conferences from now through Monday. BBL.
You’re welcome. That Bing search yielded an embarrassment of riches. ;-)
Oh thanks. The next time Hubby and I drink hot toddies at Christmas time, I’ll think of that, LOL!
Here’s hoping that he’s the First Gentleman in a couple of years.
Thanks for the ping! Every girl crazy ‘bout a sharp dressed man.
Well I tried to put up a pic with him in a tux, but it won’t copy, so you’ll have to use your imagination.

Nothing could be harder than the suffering the wives and children of our troops do all the time. And they do it for others.
I agree with you. And thanks.
I agree, Marines are the toughest. Notwithstanding Todd Palin, though, I’m betting there’s some overlap between the two groups. You reckon there’s some Marines who do the Iron Dog? I do.
Well said, different circumstance, same toughness. The fighters in Iraq were in the same class.
Sarah was talking about that in the context of the subject: the Iron Dog race - people use that expression or near expression all the time whether it’s political teams, athletics etc. Of course the Marines and our fighting men and women are the toughest literally; physically, mentally and emotionally in battle and tested situations, no doubt about that. It’s a figure of speech
I’m a guy, and I admire Todd immensely.
He’s a man’s man, no doubt.
But better than that, he is a Christian man’s man, and his goodness reflects his Savior. So does Sarah.
When Todd becomes the First Dude in 2013, you can bet he isn’t gonna tell me how big my restaurant portions should be.
Like the difference between having Jimmah and Rosalyn in the White House to having Ronald and Nanacy in the White House, that is how Sarah and Todd would be versus the Usurper and the Wookie.
What a difference for America.
What a difference for the world.
What a difference for mankind.
See tagline for further clarification.
Well said, and great tagline.
To see a distillation of how I feel about Todd and Sarah, please see my Post 17.
Every thread needs a First Dude photo.
He’s a man’s man and those blue eyes are dynamite!
Cut from the same cloth.
hey VR - i was going to pm you that link just now, but you are on top of it.
just some info - Palin/Quam were in 2nd place, but they had too much shop time in Nome so it put them in 3rd. the gps pings aren’t reading right now for some reason, so i can’t see where they are on the trail.
thanks for posting this.
prayers for all dog riders - ground blizzards today on the trail and up to 5ft of snow some places - yikes
