Decimon, thanks for this. The neuroscience textbooks shouldn’t even bother with printing - they are being overturned with the space of a month.

When I was originally studying neurobiology in the ‘70s, the textbooks stated that “the human brain stopped growing after age 18. After the human reaches sexual maturity, the brain can only lose neurons for the rest of its life.” Now, theories of neurogenesis in the brain are changing each year. The fact that the brain can change itself depending on what the individual concentrates upon was once seen as mere bunkum. Now it’s established fact.

Once axons and dendrites were assumed to operate only in one direction. Now we can see, via electron microscope and various testing protocols, that this is obviously incorrect.

It’s a marvelous time to be interested in neuroscience. Do you have a neurology ping list?
