I had an idea to alert The Big Broadcast ping list of when fantastic classic movies play on TCM. Just trying the idea out to see if there is interest.
Tonight a gem...My Man Godfrey (1936), at 8pm est.

William Powell is a great actor. The Thin Man movies. Mr Roberts. You name it, he was good. This is a great movie.

That's amazing...we watched "Blithe Spirit" for the first time just last week. I love the British flicks.
Are you a fly on my wall?
To: Vision
ahhh, William Powell.
Does anyone else remember where he/she was when you heard that he’d died? I was just a kid, but I still remember being very sad.

I wish I had seen your post earlier. I love this movie. Wasn’t it remade later with June Allyson?

Please add me to your classic movie ping list. Thank you...
To: Leo Farnsworth
I’ll keep an eye out for that- but won’t be up at 1am.
Funny I don’t see Trouble in Paradise in TCM’s database.

I think it’s a great idea. So often there’s nothing worth turning the TV on to watch. And, when there is, I find out about it after the show .. so please do add me to your ping list for these classics.

It is a classic.
BTW, saw you posting on a MD thread...I’m in Catonsville and have family just north of Hampden. Small world.

It is, and the Thin Man series represent a point of many peaks of American culture.

Please add me to your ping list. They just can’t make movies like they used to. John Wayne was my hero.

Sure.
There was a scene in this where the homeless were complaining about too many men being on “relief” aka welfare. That it was a drag to America and all the prosperity they're after. This would never be in a movie today.

I am a definate Anglophile when it comes to movies and such.
I started getting into them as a teen with Miss Marple (Joan Hickson) and continually still keep finding good stuff.
I love Campion, Miss Marple, the good Jane Austin they do and such - but lets face it, they are in a class of their own with comedy. It’s not on instant streaming, but try and check out some of the Alec Guiness comedies, especially The original Lady Killers.
I brought that over to a friends house the other day and they loved it.
