O.J. Simpson was beaten unconscious in a savage prison yard attack, according to a report in the National Enquirer.

The assault was so brutal and debilitating that the disgraced NFL great is now afraid to leave his cell.

The Enquirer said inmates cheered on a beefy young skinhead as he beat the most famous inmate at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center to a "bloody pulp," knocking him to the ground and inflicting serious injuries. Simpson, 63, reportedly spent three weeks in the infirmary while prison officials attempted to hush up the incident.

Supposedly Simpson was targeted in the lockup because his boasts about sexual exploits with beautiful white women were overheard by white supremacist inmates.

The Enquirer actually has an excellent record of accuracy when it reports something as specific as this. For example, it was the first out with pictures of Jackie Kennedy showing she was in the terminal stages of cancer. More recently, it scooped everybody else with the story about John Edwards' infidelity. On a story like this I'd give it more credibility than any other source.

Not to be gross, but I have a picture of Nicole Brown after Simpson murdered her, with no blockages. Something you will never see in an American paper. Horrible.

Why don't I believe this?

I assume OJ is still in shape. Obviously anyone can be taken down by an army of gnats, but I would assume that others have already tried to cross him and been put in their place. He is a strong man. The first guy to come at him is probably dead, and the others know it.

Prison authorities nationwide have tried various forms of imprisonment, therapies, rehabilitation, etc. and yet there’s very little difference in the outcomes. It just might be related to the type person who ends up in prison in most instances. Put a few hundred of them together in an isolated environment, and who knows what could happen. On the outside, I’m going to guess they would be committing rape, murder, brutality, etc.
