It is time to face up to the elephant in the living room, which for some reason conservative Americans are desperately determined to ignore.
"Free trade" is destroying America.
A generation ago, America was the world's preeminent power. We led the world in manufacturing. Technology. Space. Innovation. In every way, America was the best.
In a single generation, we have squandered that heritage, and now are deeply in debt to a communist nation which just one generation ago - rode only bicycles.
WTF will it take, to wake Americans (particularly conservative Americans, who should know better) up to the very real danger of stripping America of everything which made her great?

Declaring war is an old and outdated way of fighting. Look for something more original.
And don't tell me your original thinking leads you to believe that trade and business are war. Everyone has known that since prehistory.

I'd assume at the point they are ready to retake Taiwan, they'd just declare the western Pacific off limits. No declaration of war necessary.
I certainly agree that Taiwan is on their agenda, but the entire Western Pac would certainly mean war (of course, if Obama is in office, who the h$ll knows what our response would be).
I don't actually believe China has martial intentions toward the U.S. (banks don't attack their borrowers without damaging their own interests).
If China is preparing for war, I think it will be with India.

This convoluted article makes sweeping and erroneous statements about how free trade is destroying America, mixing up socialist-style U.S. government polices with the free market. History and economic fact says otherwise about free markets and free trade. The rule is, the country imposing the tariff is the one that gets burned, because, among other things, tariffs limit the country's citizens to the most competitive quality and price available.
Overall, history and economic fact demonstrate that free-market capitalism makes the country utilizing it more wealthy and powerful than it would be otherwise. In particular, intelligence and clear economic sense should drive our dealings with a perceived enemy. We must weigh the pluses and minuses of dealing with such countries. Usually tyranny thrives on poverty. Usually the free market brings with it more choices, exchanges of ideas, and economic benefits which can lead to eventual dissipation or overthrow of a restrictive regime. It's not a cut and dried case if what you want is the greatest benefit to our country. The bad guy may benefit but we may find that we benefit more. If we find the opposite is true, then maybe an embargo is needed. But making the exception the rule is like shooting yourself in the foot.

It may take China a hundred years to fail. If we don’t get rid of this “Too Big To Fail” business model and “Corporate Welfare” government system, we well fail sooner than China. You can’t stop the Free Market. You can suppress it, but it can’t be killed. The more governments want to control it, the deeper and wider it will spread underground. Example: New York’s cigarette tax and black market cigarettes.

Massive financial problems
Economy based on exporting, meaning it is completely at the mercy of importing nations.
Educational system that’s utterly broken.
No domestic industrial base. Everything China makes, is an exploitation of cheap labor. They don’t invent anything, don’t design anything, tey merely copy and exploit for cheap labor and management.
China’s banking problems are FAR worse than ours.
