It is time to face up to the elephant in the living room, which for some reason conservative Americans are desperately determined to ignore.
"Free trade" is destroying America.
A generation ago, America was the world's preeminent power. We led the world in manufacturing. Technology. Space. Innovation. In every way, America was the best.
In a single generation, we have squandered that heritage, and now are deeply in debt to a communist nation which just one generation ago - rode only bicycles.
WTF will it take, to wake Americans (particularly conservative Americans, who should know better) up to the very real danger of stripping America of everything which made her great?
ahh so you resort to insults just like dummy. Too bad, I thought you might actually have a solid argument.
You’re more concerned with your 10% than your country.
Dust is not a chemical.
>>Ill speak slower so you can understand.<<\
No problem — you are plently slow.
>>My response had two sentences. The first one was asking why he wanted to take my job away.<<
OK, so that idea is liked with what? Silly me, I thought it was linked with the next sentence.
>>The second pointed out that if he couldnt compete in the free market he should find something else. We dont have a free market right now.<<
And you still end up in a situation where if your job can be taken away, you can’t compete in a free market. I was leaving it to you to do better but you decided to dive in.
>>Was that slow enough for you? Perhaps you only attended the first day of your econ class and missed the rest.<<
Exactly what economic principle to which were you referring? Any one at all.
>>I read it literally. I had no other choice. I think Im trying to take jobs away from people over the internet.<<
And their precious bodily fluids!
You’ve gone off the rails, dude. Just trying to bring you back. Maybe it’s late, and you are no longer thinking clearly.
No I find your insults to be offensive. Your arrogant attitude and calling people stupid.
You are just trying to bully and not making any argument.
Don’t joke with me. I’m trying to take your job away right now.
“I’m not sure what that means.”
-
Fair enough. We’re talking. It’s a start.
I welcome you to ponder that idea, and its ramifications.
The PRC is far and away history’s largest, most powerful labor union. And we are sending ever more American jobs, to that union...
Just something to contemplate.
“My question stands: why do you want to punish me?”
Removing the foreign govt subsidies is not a punishment. Its leveling the playing field.
Why are you afraid to compete in the free market?
After were done destroying our manufacturing base
with litigation, taxes, regulations, high energy prices,
compliance,government programs, unions, local officials
with itchy palms, the business either does 1 of 3 things.
1. Goes broke.
2. Gets in bed with the big government protection racket.
2. Moves offshore to escape the madness.
The folks on FR that want the government to fix this problem
by placing tariffs on foreign made goods to correct the
problem don’t even understand the problem.
1. Government meddling caused the problem.
2. Tariffs will put more money in the government’s coffers
causing more growth of big government. causing more
government meddling. (see #1)
3. Tariffs will cause retaliation causing our export levels to drop.
Stop allowing the government, lawyers, and unions to ripoff
and kill our private industry.
You must be new to these types of threads... :)
Let me contemplate that and how it might be effected.
“Dust is not a chemical.”
No it isn’t. American companies must treat it as such. For the US govt to allow foreign companies to generate their products without the same stipulation is not a free market.
Its part of the free trade movement. Regulate American companies to death and force the wealth overseas.
>>No I find your insults to be offensive. Your arrogant attitude and calling people stupid.
You are just trying to bully and not making any argument.<<
OK, I invite you to tell me where I have called anyone stupid (not to be confused with “ignorant” — those are completely different). Please be very specific about which post it was — FR makes it easy to post links.
I am not sure where you are missing my point — I ask that someone who posts about a subject be knowledgeable about that subject.
To know something about a subject and demand that someone else also know something is not being a “bully” — it is supporting the very Conservative Value of knowledge.
What have you given up even trying to make an argument for free trade? You probably expect the govt to protect you.
>>Dont joke with me. Im trying to take your job away right now.<<
Hey, jobs come and go.
Precious bodily fluids, OTOH...
Its already done in some instances.
It’s not possible to compare your comment #178 (to which I originally responded, and you have declined to respond in turn), and your comment #209. You are either tired, or retarded.
We should put 35 percent tax on everything we import and have everyone put a 35 percent tax on everything we export. That way the whole world will be prosperous.
Or just somethings, some times, now and then. Politically. Depending, such that no one knows what prices will be from year to year and can not plan, invest, import, or export.
Yeah, that’s the ticket! Let’s revisit the 20’s and the 30’s! Let’s have German nationalists rise to power on a Germany First platform, and so fort.
