That money from the U.S. was one of the major reasons that there have been 30 years of peace in the MidEast between Egypt and Israel. Sometimes practicality has to set in.

The day I hear Obama talk about cutting foreign aid to countries who aren’t toeing our line, I’ll agree with you.

She’s right but the world aint perfect. When all the options are bad you make lemonade.
She’s no where close to be as wrong as Obama. For you to say that shows just how confused you are.

She’s dead bang on right. Only morons would consider her ‘confused’ as President George Waahington said almost exactly the same thing over 200 years ago.

Sheesh. She needs some new advisers.
Our dollars bought stability for the Suez Canal. A military NOT inclined to attack Israel. A military that kept the muslim brotherhood in check.

They really should have translated that into English.

I ask, where is Mubarak now? How much is Mubarak worth? Did American taxpayers create that worth including his retreat?

Conservatives like to say "We need to cut off all foreign aid!" but if Palin says we should cut off foreign aid if it isn't doing any good, and suddenly she's just like Obama?
What she said was fine.

“He’s a bastard, but he’s our bastard” has never been, is not, and never will be a perfectly satisfactory argument. I have a feeling the entire field would agree.

It probably wasn’t moral or ethical to stand behind the Shah either, but is Iran a better place for his being gone? Sometimes there are no really good options and you have to choose the bad option that’s best for America. For decades that option was Mubarak. If Iran gains influence in Egypt the whole of the Middle East is up for grabs. Toss in Turkey and you’ve got the potential to destabilize Europe. Mubarak was not a “good” man, but we may all (Egyptians in particular) end up wishing he was back.

We need to pull back on those countries where the money isn't doing any good. Until the rioting started Egypt did not have any troops in the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt was also one of only two Arab countries that had a peace treaty with Israel. Mubarak often acted as a go between in Arab - Israeli talks. That's what our money bought.
Mubarak was a bastard, but he was our bastard.

She said this, I believe, last eve on FBN, Napolitano's show. Why you state her to be as confused as Obama, well, confuses me.
She basically asserted that the US needs to look closely at where foreign aid, i.e., taxpayer dollars, actually end up; perhaps we need to begin tightening our belts in this regard.
What is the problem with this?
