My recollections turned out to be slightly fuzzy (fancy that!).
You actually go south past the old town center before you cross the Danube.
The highway I'm talking about is Bundesstrasse, or Federal Highway 10, which winds its way from a point west of Karlsruhe southeast through Stuttgart, Ulm, and to Augsburg. I think it must have gone to Munich at one time, but then they built the Autobahns, and A6 took most of B10's traffic. A6 passes north of Ulm, and continues southeast through Munich and finally to Salzburg.

I would think, if the SHTF in the US, it will be even worse in Western Europe!
You will want to be in Singapore, China, Costa Rica, Moldova, the Baltics or somewhere. And your assets will want to be invested in well-managed commodity producers.

Chile is another place or Switzerland. An investment account in Singapore is probably the safest and in commodities. Sad. Obama and Tv are the catalyst to destroy America. TV brainwashes the masses into loving him. Sick.

I don’t know. The Germans are starting to wake up, maybe Sweden and a few others. Their survival instincts may kick in.
America not so much. Idiots on FR were posting today how funny a Pepsi commercial was where a black woman and her husband assaulted a white woman then ran away. It was supposed to be funny. The point is a lot of Americans are brainwashed by trash on TV. Totally clueless. Same idiots who voted for Obama cause Oprah told them.

A cousin of mine and her husband (childless, in their early 40s) moved to Dublin a year ago for an extended stay. Her husband is a superb chef and works in one of Dublin’s finest hotels. Since my cousin qualifies for an Irish passport because of our Irish grandparents, she and her husband are entitled to residency and permits to work in Ireland as a matter of right.

My wife's mother had six children before she became naturalized US citizen. She came from Italy after WWII.
The children, some now grandparents, have learned they qualify for dual citizenship, and have 1st cousins in Italy.
I would think dual citizenship is a basis for immigration-return.
None have expressed interest in moving there, but one is interested in buying property.
I think the cost of living and weather in southern Europe might be attractive, but the standard of living is probably better to the north.
I lived in Germany on the local economy during my Army days, and really liked it. I have relatives in Sweden.
I think ANY country which allows muslims to infiltrate are committing suicide.

No. But have a nice trip. Don't let the door hit ya.
If things go south in the US it will be worse in Europe and you will be unarmed and a foreigner. One that your neighbors will be happy to take their frustrations out on.
Please remember to renounce your citizenship because we don't want you back. Easily panicked dunces are rarely an asset to any country.

People that I have known for years in a business climate who I have no real idea what their politics are are suddenly popping off about the economy, Obama, etc. It is interesting. Most are looking at closing their businesses for good after two or three rounds of layoffs. One guy I know closed his early. Tried to sell it for three months in 2008 and then just closed it and moved to Brazil. emails say he is very happy he did both and glad he did not try to hang on an get bled out.

Most I know are heading to Central and South America. Sounds like a swap, sort of a citizens exchange, as many of them are coming here.

Your first post analyzes the problem correctly and succinctly. The second proposes the best solution. However, I hope the liberals ignore you and head for Europe where they would be more at home. They would try to transform Texas into Europe.

It's like hearing my late father speaking to me. Most of my family originated from the Ulm/Stuttgart area. When my father was in the army in the 50's, he was with Armed Forces Radio and stationed in Germany, and when off-duty on the weekends, he usually stayed with his Uncle Karl and his family in Stuttgart. That was Dad - even in the army, he had a gravy job and relatives to pump him full of Old Country cooking. LOL!

And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

I used to listen to AFRS on 1143; I think that signal was out of Heidelberg. They carried one hour of Rush in the evening, in real time.
I have always followed the business and technology Radio and TV, having done work in that field mainly in the 60’s.
ZDF (Zweite Deutsches Funk) has an impressive installation in Mühlacker (”Millpond”) west of Stuttgart. Back when I was in the area, they were transmitting on short wave as well as medium wave and TV.

I remember that magazine, what was it called - Radio And Television Business and Technology? - coming to our mailbox monthly. Dad was in the business for half a century - I spent most evenings of my formative years amusing myself inside radio stations. Because of him, I finally got my 3rd class commercial R/T ticket on Groundhog Day, 1979. Also because of him, I never perused a career in it.
'It's too transient!' 'No job security!' 'The owners are a$$holes who never worked in front of a mike!' 'They're running the place into the ground!' Then, one evening in late 1998, not long before he died, we were having a discussion on the phone, and he asked me, "Son, why didn't you ever want to follow in my footsteps and go into radio?" If I could have reached through that phone line and garroted him with it, I would have. LOL!

The funny thing is, that in 2009 at least roundabout 10.500 Americans (mostly former Gemans) immigrated back to Germany, while (only) 26.200 Turks found their new home there. The biggest contemporary immigration group for Germany are Poles (in the meantime roundabout 130.000 people).
Regards from Germany!
