For the first time, as of today, private citizen and putative GOP Presidential Candiate Sarah Palin has eclipsed the sitting President of the United States, Barack Obama, in google hits. Entering the names "Sarah Palin" and "Barack Obama" generates the following results:
"Sarah Palin": 78,100,000
"Barack Obama": 65,700,000
This is a stunning development that is unprecedented. Google hits are indicative of public interest in a person and what they have to say. No one should command more public attention that a sitting President of the United States. Yet a private citizen, who holds no office and has not even DECLARED, much less SECURED, the nomination of her party for the Presidency even now commands a higher level of public interest and attention than the current occupant of the Oval Office!
To get a little perspective in how earth shattering this circumstance truly is, notice that Palins' alleged competitors for the GOP nomination run up the following number of hits on Google:
"Mike Huckabee": 1,250,000;
"Mitt Romney": 2,630,000;
"Newt Gingrich": 2,290,000
Even George Bush, a recent two term President generates only 26,400,000 google hits, a fraction of Palin's total. His brother Jeb, often mentioned by the stop-Palin fanatics, generates a meager 835,000.
The ridiculous notion being pushed hard by Democrat push polls such as PPP and CNN and even Establishment polls such as Rasmussen that Palin is actually trailing one or more of these dwarfs is belied by these and other objective indicators. In political terms, Sarah Palin is an order apart, immensely above all her GOP competition and now eclipsing the President of the United States himself. Barack Obama is getting a taste of the dust in which she will leave him when the landslide breaks in November 2012.
It looks like my vote for Frank Keating didn’t register.
These are interesting figures.
For another (perhaps better, in some instances) metric; go to Google Adwords — adwords.google.com
Type in the names, of each of the pols you wish to compare. You get back the number of searches done on those names.
For instance: Sarah Palin local (U.S.) monthly searches = 1,000,000
Barack Obama local monthly searches = 673,000
Romney 2012 local monthly searches = 5,400
Catcher’s Mitt local monthly searches = 22,200
Yes. I am watching it. SP is on now.
We’re watch Hannity also. Good interview.
Good catch!
Maybe sooner than you think. I just tried this and Google returned 96 million for Barack Obama, 76 million for Sarah Palin. Numbers sure do move around a lot.
Well put. I would have said,"An order of magnitude apart," but that's just splitting hairs. We both mean, and understand, the same thing.
Palin's candidacy is going to absolutely shock a huge number of Republicans, who have (for some unknown, inexplicable reason) either swallowed the Lefty Anti-Palin Kool-Aid, or have decided that they just don't like her despite her firm moral Christian foundation, staunch Constitutional conservatism, and unheard-of list of accomplishments as Governor.
Fine, they can deal with their Palin Shock as thousands of Lefty Loons slash their wrists and jump off of buildings.
LMAO!!!!
8^D
Whoa. Internet at work
SHE ROCKED!
You two have FR mail.
Ron Paul
13,700,000 Google results
Herman Cain
“The Safe Choice in 2012”
604,000 Google results
Those numbers are the number of pages which have the text you are searching for.
So that tells you who has the most web pages being written about them, or mentioning them. It's no surprise given the fixation the media and left wing bloggers have on Palin hatred that "Sarah Palin" shows a lot of pages mentioning her name.
There is also Google Trends which tells you long term trends for search terms.
Also check Google Insight which gives recent traffic and lets you compare search terms for interest both globally and regionally.
Finally, there's The Google Keyword Analyzer Tool. The keyword tool is another way to look at interest, and it will tell you what Google thinks are "related keywords" to the search terms you give it.
Of the three, Google Insights is probably the best graphical representation of "interest" in a given term or topic. Also note that Google Insights gives more details and actual numbers if you sign in with a Google account (gmail or other Google login).
You got it!
Just think what the Google numbers are going to be after she announces!
Thanks. I will be watching as all the talking skulls full of mush at MSLSD explode.
Thanks for the tips and links.
Should be easier to raise that $2 million dollars for her campaign than I thought...
FYI: Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet told me tonight that her company, Sears Optical, will very soon carry “Sarah Palin-style” eyeglasses, for much less than Kazuo Kawasaki charges. Almost every Sears store has an in-house optical store.
Unfortunately, her impressive list of accomplishments is quite literally “unheard of.”
Spread the word, and re-elect Sarah in 2016.
