I won’t upgrade until the smart phone of my choice has LTE with 3g fallback on Verizon.

As an AT&T customer who travels more than the average consumer - I whole-heartedly agree with you.

AT&T is utterly pathetic. Major International Airports have spotty coverage. I guess there is just no room and no demand for telephone/data coverage at International Airports like Salt Lake, Balimore, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and Bush Int'l Airport in Houston.

I'll be selling my iPhone 4 when the iPhone 5 comes out in a few months and jumping back to Verizon. I never knew how poor a cell phone provider could be, until I tried AT&T. I get more dropped calls in a given week, than I got in the 13 years I was with Verizon.

Since LTE was enabled on Dec 5th, my 3g connectivity has been unreliable. It often falls back to 1xRTT. All to serve a bunch of folks they hoped would be watching NFL football on LTE video feeds. I can't count on my iHeartRadio app to stream reliably anymore. Tomorrow, the 3g network is going to be mugged by a new crowd of iPhone users. More load on an already overloaded network. That's why I'm holding off for an LTE with 3g fallback. I'm working in San Diego where LTE is active. My home in Pocatello has only 3g service. LTE isn't expected there until 2013.
