Good God...the Black Eyed Peas just plain - SUCK!!
Clearly something Øbozo might enjoy!
Prince was great at the Super Bowl. Typically, the Super Bowl tries to get the biggest acts they can. The biggest acts these days don’t become even bigger acts. You’d have to go back a lot of years to find an act that was big enough for the Super Bowl, and still had good years ahead of them. Zeppelin 1973. Beatles 1966. Pink Floyd 1977.
It’s good though, a benchmark low is good to set. Almost anything would be better than what we just watched.
Muse is an example of a top band with hits ahead of them. But they might not be famous enough here in the US.
The Decemberists had the #1 album last week, Amos Lee is #1 this week. Iron & Wine is #2 this week. Any of those, or all of those, would be better.
How about they have a contest - whoever sells the most records the week of the superbowl, gets to play at the superbowl. It would be good all over, because this Black Eyed Peas thing was just so awful. It’s a free market solution.
I'm half that age and can't stand them. I'll listen to everything from Blues to Classic Rock to Motown to Irish music to old metal to old punk, too.
This was synthetic American Idol meets rap. I muted and put on Stevie Ray Vaughan, some good Texas music.
Darius Rucker sings proper country and doesn’t hip hop it up at all. Btw, whatever happened to Cowboy Troy?
Exactly. His interest is in men, not women.
NFL: Negros, Felons and Liberals. (No white conservatives allowed)
RAP: Retarded African Poetry (The Pea-Brains sucked)
I tried to watch the game and parts of it were pretty good, but the half time show was a joke and could only have appealed to no more than half the audience. The commercials were once again uninspiring. Last years game was incredible with the repeated turnovers. This years game was pretty good, too, but the hype has outdone the delivery.
Wake up and listen to the music. It is not an age thing it is a matter of good taste vs. poor taste. The half-time show was poor. The National Anthem was sung in poor taste.
It would be better to just have the coin toss and start the game than to have to listen to a lousy treatment of what should be done in a solemn, respectful way.
Dis she pee her pants again tonight? She’s disgusting.
I don’t watch anything but the game. I change the channel during every commercial and the horrible halftime shows. They ruined the game with all the hype and commercial garbage.
The halftime show during Glee was better.
“In any case, I wont remember the Packers win for long, but I dont think I will ever forget that program.”
I should have watched that.
Who cares, really. Don’t like it? Turn the damn channel.
They should let the fans and players sing the National Anthem. Put the words up on the screen for those who can’t remember them. Have a military band play the music.
lol, don’t be so defensive.
I think the only reason everybody thinks the Black Eye Peas suck out loud is because their halftime show was so pathetic; the sound was horrible, the cheap autotune gimmick was so ‘90s, and the songs were mediocre. I suspect that most people like me, who never heard of them before, did not get a good first impression from that show.
But if you say they’re actually decent, then okay, I believe you.
Oh wait - - you said they’re “great”. Hmmm. Sorry. No sale.
FRegards,
LH
The Black Eyes Peas are not a “band”.
Bands, real bands, good bands, do extremely well in front of live audiences.
Fake bands, bands who only dance around and don’t play instruments, don’t do well on tour, probably because the fakery is expensive to produce. Real bands who are great live aren’t expensive to produce. White Stripes are great live, that’s just 2 people playing.
Stink Floyd
As far as rap goes, why insult Africa with it. The actual music from Africa is much better than c(rap). Rap is LA Bull#%#t.
LMAO!!
Yeah, Hildy, that’s what I did. I turned half-time over to my 5 year old daughter to watch and she seemed to recognize a couple of songs and have some fun with it while I put in earplugs and did some emails. No big deal to me either.
What frosted me though was before the game started when Michael Douglas came on giving his “America is great” narrative - I think it was sponsored by the NFL - and they had the audacity to put in a picture of Obama and his Wookie along with pictures of JFK and MLK - but no Reagan or GWB... I immediately started swearing out loud - does that puke (the bamster) have to invade every single event and pollute it?
It turned out to be a positive because my kids asked me what I meant and I sat down with them to explain to them how awful an American and how evil a person the President is. And I realized how much they were brainwashed (5 & 8 years old) from school. So it was a win-win for all of us :-)
Whatever you may think about the BEPs - they didn’t stand much of a chance with the lame Fox sound engineers. They completely hosed up the network audio feed (they were probably only listening to the stadium mix). Most of the time, the instrumentals were only faintly trickling in via the vocal mikes as they picked up whatever was coming over the stadium speakers.
