VENTURA, Calif. -- A Secret Service agent assigned to protect Nancy Reagan is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the hip at a sheriff's department shooting range.

Ventura County sheriff's spokesman Capt. Mike Aranda says the gun went off as the agent was putting it back in its holster Friday at the range in Camarillo. The agent was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening injury to his hip. His name was not released.

Nobody else was injured.

Very true. A Glock is a design which has the safety incorporated into the trigger. Springfield XD is also that way, among others. A number of cops have shot themselves in the ass when re-holstering their weapons and having their finger inside the trigger guard as they were doing so. It isn’t a badly designed gun, just a negligent operator. A Sig is a double action automatic which could be fired the same way, although it would take more effort. I haven’t heard of any of these instances happening with a Sig, or HK, although there may have been. Personally, while Glocks are not my favorite, they are of very good design.

..." the gun went off as the agent was putting it back in its holster..."

I blame Glock.

Glock or no Glock, the gun went off because its trigger was pulled - probably because said agent attempted to holster it with his finger still on the trigger.

Another case of GLOCK LEG SYNDROME®.

Glock — we are responsible for more self-inflicted gun shot wounds than any other firearm company. We make officers sign non-disclosure agreements once a financial settlement is offered after the product liability lawsuit.

LOL! I had “finger off the trigger” drummed into my brain so far that when I pick up a spray bottle, there’s my index finger automatically pointing straight ahead.

Also, “cocked and locked and into the holster.”

I believe security on naval ships carry the glock. My daughter did when she was TAD there on the Lincoln.

If Lee Paige had had the same discipline he’d still have a career.

Good, we won't be paying for Spain vacations during our lifetimes.

I hope you're correct but I'm dubious.

Assuming the Baraqqi regime does leave office at some point, I could easily see the MSM demanding lifetime SS protection for them.

Hope the SS agent recovers soon. It would appear he was getting in some range time before this weekend’s Ronald Reagan 100th Birthday activities. Nancy will be laying a wreath on his grave today.

Happy 100th Birthday Gipper!

Maybe. The orb must have a lot more illuminating power to outshine the other ones on the tree.

“Who carries glocks? The DEA?”

US Marshals.

Agree! I own several Glocks and carry them without fear that they will up and shoot me. I prefer them for reliability, durability and ease of maintenance. Never have to worry about bluing wear and rust like I do on my “safe queens”. I use after market barrels for reloads.

Maybe he needs something w/a tracer bar for his right hand and the Glock for his left hand (assuming, of course, that he is right-handed.) He’ll never live this down.

Sounds like a prime candidate for the DEA.

Yeah, now had he shot her dog it would have made a candidate for a local LEO post.
