The DFW area had years to plan for this but three days after being hit with a winter storm it still doesn't have important sidewalks cleared. Yes, the roads to and from the Death Star (Cowboys Stadium) have been cleared but the sidewalks in the two downtown areas where the teams, media and out-of-town visitors are staying are still covered with a thick layer of ice.
Enjoy this Super Bowl, DFW. It will be your last. Just ask Detroit and Atlanta.
Excuse me, I meant to say NY has an idiot mayor. Although the governor is an idiot, too.

Chill out man! Relax. Everything is going to be ok. Your glass seems to be half empty.
Fill er up.
No room. The glass is full of ice and snow.
She's here to stay. She's the single best asset to the real conservative cause in the past 20 years.
Even if the experiment with a cold clime SB is a dismal failure they’re booked for Indianapolis and NY within the next couple of years.
I was in New Orleans last time they hosted SB (’02?), and it was freezing cold there then, too. The temp wasn’t so low, but combined with the very humid air, it felt like being in a freezer. You never know what to expect in NOLA in February. Could be bikini weather, could be long johns.
We have this weather once or twice a year. It’s not a surprise.
The problem is the Dallas mayor is a RINO who won’t let the private sector clean the roads properly so business can move. The City of Dallas and Arlington sure screwed the pooch on this one.

Promise?
Personal preferences aside, I spend a lot of time in Deep Ellum at night, and I’ve never even come close to being accosted. It’s not nearly as bad as it’s made out to be.
This SB deal is one of the biggest scams outside the fedgov. They offer stories and promises of economic benefits, but all I see is money being spent by the city and state to fund the NFL.
As long as the Curtain Club is open, there is a Deep Ellum.
Like the Olympics?
I heard (rumor or not) that Beijing has dismantled many of the buildings put up for its Olympics. Canada invested big $ in building its athletes’ community with an eye toward later selling the units as condos, but sales were very slow.
The only city I can think of offhand that benefited long term from holding Olympics, that invested hugely in them, is Barcelona.
You know, I am sick of this weather already. The folks from up north may laugh at us, but let me see them go ride their bicycle 100 miles when it is 100F. I can do that, even at my advanced late middle age.
You don’t have to shovel heat off the sidewalk ;)
