The DFW area had years to plan for this but three days after being hit with a winter storm it still doesn't have important sidewalks cleared. Yes, the roads to and from the Death Star (Cowboys Stadium) have been cleared but the sidewalks in the two downtown areas where the teams, media and out-of-town visitors are staying are still covered with a thick layer of ice.
Enjoy this Super Bowl, DFW. It will be your last. Just ask Detroit and Atlanta.
People need to quit bitching about a little ice and man up. Geesh, it’s February. Put on your damn rubber boots and brave the elements. What a bunch of wussies.
*He tried that a hand full of years ago but was shot down by the other team owners. He wanted royalties paid for the use of any NFL team name by kid leagues. It just so happened that his team was the most popular at the time.
Bunch of Packer Backers in Ft Worth were on the news earlier, they were asked about the weather and said it was fine as far as they were concerned & they went back to partying !
OK, kwicherbichin, I can take that. I don’t think the effect that has on this area gets enough respect. I’ve drove around the last two days, no probs for me, but half the drivers want to creep along at 5mph and the other half wants to go 50.
You have to be careful not to get collected by these people. It’s all good until somebody locks the brakes and then you just hope some fool who thinks 4WD is the solution to all slickiness don’t collect you with his brush guard. Once the brakes lock and the slide begins, we are all the same. Facked.
Whatever, I’m just ready for this carp to melt off so the rest of the people out there aren’t a danger to me and mine.
I agree. silly post.
Fort Worth is the best run downtown in the US.
The Super Bowl will be fine and our guests will have a great time. Quit whining.
Cowtown is the best!
“not being able to get out and about on Commerce Street, the West End, and Deep Ellum.”
OK. First of all, if you are going to Dallas, those places are dead...a long time ago.
Try Uptown or Henderson or Oak Lawn.
Thanks for the tip. It's been a few years since I spent any time in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area except to catch a connecting flight.
Wow, you haven’t been to Dallas in a while. Those areas are the least popular now and Deep Ellum doesn’t really even exist anymore.
Hilarious. I posted the same thing. But there are great places downtown in the Uptown and AAC areas.
Like most folks.
Somehow, I don't think that's a bad thing.

It’s been swimming the past month ever since this place turned into Freepalin.com
I’ve lived here all my life and ‘rarely’ doesn’t cut it.
I do not remember this kind of weather ever.
Dallas may not have scenic beauty, but it has a lot of fun places, fun, that is if it’s not 20 degrees with six inches of snow.
My son went to six Superbowls in various locations. He and my daughter kinda enjoyed Atlanta because of the underground mall, but they spent most of their time in bars anyway.
You got that right about the City of Dallas. When will people learn that if you put thugs and racists in charge, you will have thugs and racists in charge.
WE have occasional bad weather in DFW. It never lasts more than a couple of days. Why should we be criticized for not investing a lot in snow removal.
And by the way, how is New York City doing with that.
Sorry if it sounded like I was criticizing. I wasn’t. More like wondering why the cities of DFW don’t deal with the snow and ice. Or why there needs to be rolling blackouts. Cities have dealt with this type of weather for decades. But recently the media hypes winter snow/ice storms and cities are paralyzed when they never were before. We had worse weather last year in Fort Worth but we were back on our feet in a couple days. No 4-day shut down. You mention NYC—they are having issues because of their idiotic governor and demands of unions. NY has been through plenty of snow storms even worse than this year, but the leadership and people have become so wimpy recently. Just an observation.
