I like this one...

8. “Warning! You want a warning? O.K, I’m warning you not to do that again or I’ll give you another ticket.”

I got out of a ticket last Saturday. Virginia state cop nailed me doing 72 in a 55. I told him I was on my way to my best friend’s funeral, and the last time I got stopped by a cop was 8 years ago, for the same violation, on my way home from my father’s funeral. Told him I was so sad that I didn’t mind if he gave me a ticket. He was suspicious until I showed him the Google Maps printouts I had for my destination, but then he let me go. I’ll be good until the next time someone dies.

Most cops are used to the FACT that 99.99999 percent of the people they pull over for something, WILL LIE TO THEM.

This is why when someone says that they are taking their bleeding or otherwise obviously suffering child/spouse/parent to the hospital, cops ALWAYS assume they are lying.

PA, total pros.

Not quite. Wasn't one of the people who helped Big Ben Roethlisberger "secure" that drunken woman in the bathroom of a Georgia bar one of PA's state troopers? And another one of the group was a Pittsburgh cop?

Correct me if I am wrong, it was awhile ago.

It used to be `70,if you got pulled over in SC in an out of state car you had to pay the ticket on the spot..broke me and had to return to Bragg missing a week end in Myrtle Beach

How did you establish as fact?

My sister was a City of Pittsburgh cop and her sector was a very bad sector.
One night she pulled over a car with a couple of young girls in it. They blew right thru a red light while my sister was behind her.
When my sister told them why they were being pulled over, the driver said” I am from the South Hills”...My sister asked “ do they stop for red light there”?
She let them go with a two warning. The first was always stop at red light and the second was dont come into this sector after dark again because the savages will shrink their heads if they catch them.

I had a similar story from the 70s on the way to Myrtle Beach. It seemed rather unconstitutional at the time, but it wasn't quite as threatening as the Guardia Civil motorcycle cops in Spain who demanded the fine be paid to them after unslinging their submachine guns.

I have found that being well mannered works like nothing else. I haven’t been pulled over that often but ended up with warnings each time.

My very first ticket was as a stupid kid. 90 mph in a 55 up in the flat country. Cop said “You’re the fastest one I’ve had all day!” I replied - “I don’t suppose I get a free ticket to the Policeman’s Ball?” He laughed, and wrote me out a ticket. Nice enough the entire time though.

The Judge was the one making snide comments when he took my license (provisional) away for 6 months.

I was just glad he had caught me after I had slowed down after passing a car! (Stupid kids!)

I agree. But trying to lie even while being respectful, does not usually work out well, unless you are blonde and have a nice rack.

The topic is the hilarity that ensues when a cop decides to be a comedian with a citizen.

OK.

Seems like it would be a good idea to laugh at his joke.

How did you establish as fact?

Two ways.

First, the Global Warming Tactic/Chinese Missile tactic. That is where you can declare your suppositions as fact without question.

Second, the rule that all 'statistics' and 'percentages' are really just made up, and can be any value that suits the author.

Just watch TV or read a news website and you will see tons of examples.

You are both correct for calling me on this. Although I am sure you both know what I meant, I expressed it very badly and untruthfully.

If I may restate it-

When someone is pulled over for something like speeding, they will usually try to get out of it by trying to make some excuse up or claim ignorance. The cops have 'heard it all' and it has been my experience that if you MAN UP to the DEED, and admit you were breaking the 'law', they will usually give you some kind of break.

I could never try to lie my way out of a ticket. I just couldn’t pull it off.

Also, at night if you will turn on the dome lights open the window and put your hands on the steering wheel it calms them alot.

Ive had two different cops thank me for those things after it was all said and done.

Both times I got a warning. No excuses to them just "Im sorry I wasnt paying attention to my speed well enough"
