Saw one of these tooling around my hometown yesterday.

Wanted to see what you FReeper Motorcycle Hooligans thought about its styling/etc.

I dunno ... seems a little "Spaceman Spiff" to me.

LOL. Yeah, my t-shirt, coffee cups, ball caps, etc etc etc don’t come with a motorcycle. Oh well.

A real bike, huh? Wow. I’m cut to the bone on that zinger.

Rice grinder? Dang, what a withering attack. I may not survive!

Just guessing that being your own man and thinking for yourself isn’t high on your list of values, but fitting in with like minded people and conforming to what they think is high on your list.

Funny thing is that I cannot count the number of Harleys I’ve seen on the side of the road, especially compared to japshitricegrinders.

But like someone reminded me, 85% of all Harleys are still on the road....the rest actually made it home from the dealership!

Guess Rocket III’s aren’t “real” bikes! LOL!!!

Mine (profile page) is real enough as I whip past Harley guys on I-95. They look real nice and shiny as they rapidly diminish in my rear-view mirror- LOL!

A little good-natured s#1t-flicking is fine, but I don't really do brand wars. Hell- I wave at guys on scooters. It's funny- they don't know what to do. Here's this guy on a colossal 2300CC behemoth giving them a smile and a wave like...like they're bikers or something.

My next door neighbor (he's awesome, best neighbor I've ever had) is a big Harley guy- rides with a club. I see that flicker in his eye when I roll out the Rocket, though. :-)

Ride what you want. All I said was that I have too much pride to ride a rice grinder again. The thing is, as defensive you have gotten it seems you are not really proud of your ride.

Defensive? You better go look up the word.

I notice that only one of us has a pic of his bike available for public view.

Hmmmm....so who isn’t proud of his ride?

But hey, if my identity was wrapped in a ‘I paid too much for my American POS’ then I’d be just as aggressively defensive as you.

Read American Iron magazine letters to the editor. Fascinating letters about ‘they mystique’ and how it overshadows the lack of performance and reliability of HD.

My ex-next door neighbor was/is in a club, too. His daddy in law paid for his HD. Something just seems wrong about someone buying into a club, but not my business.

My grandparents were in a MC club back in the 40s-50s on his Indian.

May I fantasize over your bike? It is one of my ‘gee I wish I had’ bikes. Rocket III, Valkyrie, M109...all nice rides imo.

(grin)

I got a good deal on mine. I live these days in the DC area. I found this particular Rocket in Tennessee. It had been on the market for a while and the price had come down. I flew to Knoxville and picked it up, rode it home.

I used http://claz.org/ , which used to be called Craiglook- to comb the whole of the Craigslist system. There are some real deals out there right about now.

I kind of felt bad buying it from these folks, they were great people and didn’t really want to part with it. Now that I’ve ridden it for a while- well, this bike is going in my box with me when my time comes.

Ride your rice grinder if you are proud of it. I bet you have never owned a real bike have you? I admitted I have owned a rice grinder. I learned my lesson. My 15 year old Fat Boy will still be worth 10-12 grand 10 years from now. What will your rice grinder be worth?

So resale value makes a “real bike”?? LOL

It will only be worth that to another fool. There’s always someone who will overpay for something then boast about it. Always.

Amazing, though, how I paid far less than that yet got far more bike than you did!

Typical HD ad in newspaper:

For sale - Harley, like new, garage kept, barely ridden.

You will rarely find that kind of ad for a Goldwing.

It sounds like someone is a little envious of your scooter.

A person can pay way less for a house in a slum and get a bigger house than a person can get along a beach, but that does not make the house in a slum worth more.

Full of ugl. Whether that’s significant or not depends on whether you’re riding or posing.

And a person can type but not say anything of value.

A 100 year old bike may have a higher cost but not be more or better bike.

I know. All he can talk about is how bad Harleys are, over and over. So much that a person has to know he really wants one, but is just afraid of one.

Calling me chicken behind my back is juvenile.

If I wanted a Harley I could have one.

You really truly believe that I want to be like you when the truth of the matter is that I laugh at guys like you!

Without your HD you have nothing in life, do you? Can’t ride anything else?

Me? There are several bikes I’d own...Rocket III, Valkyrie, M109...my identity isn’t tied up in the brand of bike I own.

If I wanted a Harley I could have one.

I don’t.

My buddy with the Heritage has in inferior machine than my Roadstar and he paid at least twice what I did for mine.

Saying I’m jealous of HD owners is like saying I’m jealous of Levi owner because I choose to wear Wranglers. Better fit, better price.

Oh yeah, I can pay more, have more maintenance, less performance but sell to another sucker for higher?

Yeah, I’m jealous. No sour grapes. lol

Y’all have the Sweet Lemon syndrome.

From the picture it appears to be in Califonia. It just might be most appropriate in San Francisco, South Beach, of Fire Island.

Looks like Arlen Ness riding it ...

The trunk looks like a big pendulum.

They had a Vision disected on display at the Chicago show last year. Massive built up aluminum backbone. The steering neck seems way far away when you sit on it. I got the impression of a lot of the mass way out in front of you. I’d love to get some seat time on one. I’d probably fear it in a parking lot.

The fit & finish seemed adequate at best; not up to the quality of the Vegas or the Hammer.

Still, I wouldn’t trade the Bagger for one.

Just because you love actually riding doesn’t mean it must be ugly to be considered real.

If your bike was worth as much as a Harley they would charge more. HD can charge what they do because their bikes are worth it. If not they would be forced to sell for less. The simple law of supply and demand. I can buy a bike today and get the same back when I sell it. What other bikes can you say that about. As far as maintenance goes, I do take care of my bike. Change fluids, keep it clean and waxed. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have just under 100,000 miles with no problems. How many other brands can make that claim. I admit, I do not know many people who own anything but a Harley, but the few I do know, know they have an inferior bike. They just do not want to spend the money it takes to get the best.
I know an Escalade is by far better than a Trailblazer, buy I am not willing to spend the extra in order to get a better truck.
