Facebook post upsets father of 23
Daily Comet ^ | January 23, 2011 | John DeSantis

THIBODAUX — Larry Luther didn’t see the Facebook post by a Terrebonne Parish child-support hearing officer about a barroom bouncer appearing before him who has 23 children and “too much time on his hands.”

But people who read a Courier and Daily Comet story containing questions about the posting’s propriety had little trouble determining who the posting was about and called Luther to tell him.

Now the 41-year-old grandfather says he is preparing to file a Louisiana Judiciary Commission complaint against the hearing officer, William Dunckelman.

“I am waiting on the papers in the mail,” Luther said Friday night. “I am doing it for future purposes, for people in the future so that their things will be privately handled and what is in court stays in court.”

Dunckelman has de-activated the Facebook page that includes the post, which never mentioned Luther by name but which judicial-ethics experts say likely crossed acceptable lines of conduct such judges are obligated by law to uphold.

“Just had a fellow leave child support court. He works as a bouncer and has twenty-three (23) children!,” the post reads. “Of course he gets paid cash and thus pays no (0) taxes. I think he needs another job as he has way too much time on his hands! What do you think?”

What Luther thinks is that the post has negative and unfair implications. His two youngest children are 3 years old. There are three 14-year-olds and the rest are in their upper teens and in their 20s. He fathered his oldest child when he himself was 17.

He should have been castrated about 20 kids ago.

He should have spent more time with his hand and a little less with something else.

>>>Ahhh...yes, I remember when my father once told me to “strap up”, too.

Mine said “if you can’t be good, be careful - and if you’re not careful, don’t name it after me or you mother” - and, “play it cool, play it safe, don’t put your hands where you wouldn’t put your face”.

Screaming Jay Hawkins, 50’s RnB singer, reportedly had 67 kids, with a family reunion each year. That must have been a hoot.

Nice, I’m pretty sick this kind of thing. Welfare needs to be ended for everyone but, the truly helpless. The elderly and the handicapped. Let the rest go to charities like they use to do. They will hold them accountable where as the government doesn’t. Government just keeps throwing money at them with OUR hard earned dollars. AND IT ISN’T OBAMA MONEY!

Why bother legalizing polygamy? Just get out there and do it!

I collect these names just for fun. I have over 1,600 now and most of those names I found in police booking reports online, or in news articles such as this one.

One of my favorite names found just this week is Du Jour. Perhaps the mama found that name on a menu.

I really hope that these kids know who all of their brothers and sisters are. How many more are there where the mom doesn’t exactly know who the father is?

In some of these cases I think the odds are uncomfortably high that one of them is going to unwittingly end up in bed with a sibling.

I'd think that, unless this Dunkelman character knows this to be a fact, he's probably looking at a whole heap of trouble for posting it publicly. IMHO, being a private citizen, Luther has been libeled by the judge's claim that he has committed tax fraud. (I didn't see anything in the article that addressed the validity of that charge.)

I know this guy and he acts like a total thug. So far, he has not paid one penny of child support, at least that’s what some of the moms tell me. And why is it he complains about a judge telling everyone all this “private” info about him and then decides he might as well pose with some of his kids for a front page article declaring to the world all about him and his apparent decision to over-populate the world with his offspring. He needs to grow a brain and take some of his own advise...”use a condom”!!

I too have a list of these names, although not nearly as long as yours. My favorite to date is Asfunzo.

I think the judge is about to get boned.

Where the hell do they get these names?

They are kept inside of this hat and pulled out when needed. My guess.

Mine are Raytheon (boy) and Yelling (girl). What's interesting to me in this thread how many "I may claim I'm for liberty but in the tradition of Jeremy Bentham and John Calvin I really just want to retrofit the rest of society for my idea of paradise" folks it brings out.

I’d love to know how he pays for all these kids. The article states:

People respected me, and I helped make the people in the bar safe,” he said, expressing pride in a job that nets him somewhere around $1,300 per month.

Luther has other ways of raising cash, including talent restoring and repairing automobiles. He also owns some rental properties free and clear and, yes, he said, he files tax returns.

“I would describe him as an entrepreneur,” Mahoney said, when asked about Luther’s earning potential.
_______________

So what it’s essentially saying is that all his money is paid in cash? How would anyone know what he earns and while he says he files tax returns I’d bet it’s only on the income from the rental properties.

What a mess!
