I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise.

For reasons unclear to me, Minneapolis really is a gay-friendly city. Even major employers like Target, etc. set up booths at "gay" job fairs and sponsor things like the yearly GLBT parade in downtown Minneapolis.

I suspect that we're not nearly as bad as San Francisco though - if that's any consolation. We are close (I suspect) to have the largest Somali population of any city in the United States. That, in itself, should be almost more alarming.

Comments or opinions - anyone?

Mpls was gay as all get out 30 years ago. All you had to do
was walk around the streets uptown to notice that.

Ex senator larry “wide-stance” craig wasn’t busted at the san fransicko airport, was he? There’s probably a reason he was tappin’ toes in minnegaypolis.

The thing about “gay” cities is that straight people don’t really enjoy gay places so much as gay people enjoy straight places.

Straight movie theatres show Hollywood movies. Gay theatres show porn.

Gay people can go to straight places and not feel out of place, because everyone there is just acting like a normal person, which I believe gays can, and often publicly do, do. But labeling something “gay” is like giving anyone who visits a license for licentiousness.

Even the pro athletes...

Former Minnesota Vikings player Esera Tuaolo “was arrested for domestic violence in June 2010 in North Oaks, Minnesota....Tuaolo stated that the person he was accused of assaulting was his current boyfriend...”

When I think of the "Twin Cities", what comes to mind are these:

Minneapolis and St. Paul
Sodom and Gomorrah

So if we have the Somalis and the gays live in the same neighborhood, think there would be a little war in Mpls?

I live outside the blast ring and projected debris path of the metropolitan area. One August night as my family stood on our dirt road looking at clouds in the twilight, I asked a young'un what the glow on the northern horizon was. She replied: That's the campfires of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Smart kid.

I was in Mpls a few years ago and was really taken aback, I mean astounded, with the number of homos there.

DC (nearest big city to us) is pretty gay too.

Ann Arbor and Ferndale have to be up there near the top of the list. A lot of homos there.

The first time I went out to Minneapolis in 1976, for a week’s training session, a friend told me..”stay the hell off of Hennepin Avenue..”

In the early 80s, my two young sons and I set out from central Illinois, to find the source of the Mississippi (like it was lost). We found the source and also learned that it is chilly in Northern Minnesota at night even in mid summer. We also learned that Minnesota has some humongous mosquitoes and very many of them.

Whether the mosquitoes were homosexual or not, I cannot attest to.
