As of today, nearly 10 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store worldwide. Which is almost as amazing as the apps themselves. So we want to say thanks. Download the 10 billionth app, and you could win a US $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. Just visit the App Store, and download what could be your best app yet.

There are two ways to enter the Promotion:
• You will automatically be entered into the Promotion by downloading an app from the App Store.
• Non-purchase method: Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/10-billion-app-countdown/entry-form/ fully complete an online entry, including your name, complete mailing address (P.O. Boxes not acceptable), telephone number, and birth date. Once your online entry is complete, hit the “Submit” button to submit an entry. Entry via this method constitutes one (1) entry into the Promotion.

Regardless of which method of entry is used to enter the Promotion, only twenty-five (25) entries per person and/or iTunes account and/or email address, per day will be granted.

The counter ticked over 9,967,000,000 at 10:33AM, just 25 minutes after Mac Daily News took the screen shot of the counter... 2,500,000 apps, 100,000 apps a minute, 1666 a second... WOW!

If I had to start all over and buy all of the iPhone and iPad apps I bought, and mutilplied it by 10, it would still be a fraction of $10000.

Why not give them $10000 Dollar Tree gift cards too?

The iOS App Store, the Mac App Store, and the iTunes Store all draw from the same account. WIth $10K, I'd buy an Apple TV and cancel cable. I'd buy every album I have even a vague inkling I might want to own; can you buy the entire Deutsche Gramofon catalog? The Mac app store would help put a dent in that; if Adobe ever put Creative Studio on the app store, that would take a bite.
