***It's not at the link. It's from his latest book.***
Dean Koontz has been slipping conservatism into his recent books. This year, with "What The Night Knows", he does us one better. The villians are all leftwing crackpots. Here's an excerpt:
"When she was twenty-four, Melody killed her three children - ages four, three and one - after deciding that motherhood is limiting and boring, and after she learned that humanity is a vile planet-killing plague that Earth can't survive. She saw it on TV. A documentary about the end of the world and about how it is unavoidable. We all have a responsibility. As each brat died, Melody kissed it, inhaling its final exhalation, which symbolized that she was participating in the salvation of the planet by eliminating the CO2 breathers who were polluting it every time they exhaled. The planet is a living thing. We are lice on the planet."
Later:
"This success (getting away with killing her family) has enhanced Melody's self-esteem. Self-esteem is the most important thing. You can't make the life you deserve if you don't have enough self-esteem." and "She realizes that, after all, she is interesting, just like Dr. Phil and so many other famous TV hosts have been for so long telling her she is."

I haven't finished the book yet, but I think he is setting up for the hero to be a dog!!!! Even better!
I may have to get this one today. Been hankerin’ for a good thriller.
Cool.
This book would have been rejected for publication a few years ago (and not too many years ago either)
Me too- going to go buy it today
We vote with our wallets too
I (loudly) walk out of movies that insult Conservatives or Republicans and demand my money back. Three times already, they DO gove you your money back too.
Without a doubt, one of my favorite authors.....
There’s nothing like a good night’s sleep after reading Dean Koontz. What was that noise....................
Recent? Koontz has woven some pretty conservo-libertarian themes into his books for as long as I can remember (probably going on at least 20 years).
He loves his dog, too :-)
When I was younger, I used to read all Dean Koontzs books. The one with Egler Vess (something like that) and the camper haunts me to this day. Cant remember the name of it. Anyway, now I dont like that kind of books or movies anymore (real life is scary enough), but there was a time when I had read every book Dean Koontz had ever written.
Kicks the crap out of Stephen Kings newer books and quite a few of the older ones. I just wish he’d write more sci-fi/horror
you can sleep after reading his books?
you must have big brass ones!
I can't read him anymore either.
I do remember that his books are the kind that YOU CANNOT PUT DOWN. I’d start one and before I knew it is was 4 AM and I only had one chapter to go (so of course I’d finish it).
interesting
Interesting you post about Dean’s latest book as I’m in the process of reading it right now. I’m not sure how much I’m liking it, but I adore Dean Koontz and support him in every way possible. He’s a good man.
Oh yes, that’s it! Terrifying book.
AMEN to that! I read "Under the Dome."
Worst! Book! Ever!!!
Very realistic. Conservative, Evangelical Christian, murderous Meth-Lab operators (who adored Sarah Palin.)
