DAVIS, Calif.- A California psychologist says human beings may be ready to accept evidence of extra-terrestrial intelligence without widespread panic.
Dr. Albert Harrison of the University of California's Davis campus said such a discovery "may be far less startling for generations that have been brought up with word processors, electronic calculators, avatars and cellphones as compared with earlier generations," The Scotsman reported Tuesday.
Harrison said discovering an alien life-form or signal would be unlikely to cause "widespread psychological disintegration and collapse."
Martin Dominik of Scotland's University of St. Andrews said Earth-like life on planets with similar environments may be a "cosmic imperative" and intelligent extra-terrestrial beings are likely quite similar to humans.

This makes the guy sound like a techno bigot. I didn't grow up with all that crap and I've always believed there were aliens in the universe.

I think I'm going to get a job being an "authority" and saying the first idiotic thing that comes out of my mouth. No other qualifications needed.
I guess it really is who you know that counts.

I don’t have the pic handy to post but it is an 18th century painting of John the Baptist being baptised at the waters edge with a UFO depicted above him with several beams of light shining down. Why would an artist depict something like that, where would he even get the idea?
