Auburn beats Oregon 22-19
This game, btw is the only ranked team that the Ducks have played outside the PAC-10.
The Ducks played two ranked teams all year, the Beavers and Stanford. That’s it.
Far weaker than Boise, TCU, etc. Sad waste of a national championship.
They should have matched TCU against Auburn and Oregon vs Wisconsin, and we would have seen if the Ducks were for real.
Never saw a team get so many breaks in one year, Syracuse, our lousy place kicker, Clint Stoerner....
Maybe a different title or “BCS game spoiler alert” for those of us who have TiVO and weren’t lucky enough to watch the game in real time?
Over? The 2011 Season begins Wednesday.
“Oh, please. And Auburn was “gifted” by getting into FG range on a play that even the RB thought he was down.”
They had plenty of time on the clock. I don’t think driving 30 yards in 2 minutes with 3 timeouts left is that significant of a challenge.
Instead of a tight, nailbiting finish, we got two weak attempts to tackle, and Chizik showing mercy on the Ducks.
“If Oregon played “horrible” the “whole game” and were tied with 2 seconds to go, that must mean 1 of 2 things.”
A team that’s known for having the best offense in all of College football putting up 3 points before the half? I call that exposed.
I’m not an Auburn fan. I’m not a fan of the SEC, but this game was a sloppy mess compared with the Wisconsin-TCU slugfest. I was not impressed by either team and their performance today, but Auburn showed that they were clearly the better team.
Auburn was never seriously threatened the whole game.
“That’s an opinion. What is fact, is that Auburn won by a FG on the final play of the game”
From the 1 yard line, after a TD was called back.
“Had Oregon won by a FG on the final play of the game”
And why didn’t this happen?
The Ducks were down by 8 with 5 minutes remaining in the game, with Auburn having posession. Suppose we be generous to the Ducks, and they take over possession with three and out. They take control from their own 20 with 3 and a half minutes left in the game, down by 8.
They gain 40 yards as the Auburn D does as it did the whole game and slow down the Ducks. The Ducks try to throw bombs, and get picked off.
Game ends 18-10.
The Ducks were fortunate to tie the game. I don’t see how the refs cost them a victory, they played poorly for 2 quarters and expected that they would be able to make up the time.
3 points for the best offense in football at the half is pathetic. You want to call out Chizik?
There is an answer for that. Do you really want to know?
I’ll take it.
Good game! I loved the Ducks uniforms. And did AU not bring their first string cheerleaders? Ducks beat them there. I’d like a video compilation of all the ESPN talking heads who made and changed predictions in the last 24 hours from show to show and set to set. I guess they are all correct that way. War Damn Eagle!!!
LOL
War Eagle!
Boo from Portland, OR.
Oregon is a good team.
Then again, Clemson, Mississippi State, Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, South Carolina, and ESPECIALLY Alabama are good teams, too.
That was the only tough game all year for Auburn that wasn’t an absolute nail bitter down to the end.
Did anyone play a tougher schedule than Auburn this year? We only had to go through 4 other ranked teams in the SEC West, Oregon the PAC 10 champion, the news media, and Alabama defending the national championship at home with a 24 point lead.
War Eagle! Auburn is the best team in the nation. Give it up, already!
Who could have predicted the Auburn D would play so well?
My father for one. He said before the game that the sheer mismatch between the size of an SEC defense and a Pac 10 offense would be the story of the night.
They proved it. Pity. I would have loved to see TCU vs Auburn.
And yes, Auburn had a very difficult schedule.
It takes hard work and a little luck here and there to win it - I believe Coach Spurrier said that in SEC days back when he was making digs in hogtown. : )
Yeah, and those freaky-deaky helmets must have been attracting some kinda beam that nullified their ability to choose anything other than running right into the middle of Auburn’s defensive line.
The call on the last AU drive in the fourth quarter when the AU guy's forward momentum was clearly stopped, he even gave up on the play and considered himself down until the AU bench prodded him to keep going.
It was tainted.
I live in Oregon, but.........WAR EAGLE!
I was born and raised in the SEC...God’s football country. ;o)
I don’t know, but on one of the hard falls, it looked wet to me.
Why?
