I’ve been very careful since then.

Same here, although the only unintentional discharge I ever had was a round cooking off in a hot M60 machine-gun, I am ever vigilant and hard in my own training and also the training I give others.

I came close to doing what you did with the .410, when I de-cocked a .45 many years ago, it taught me a hard lesson I have never forgotten.

I like it when this topic pops up every now and then, as it helps to keep others from making the same mistakes, and it reinforces the techniques we have learned and practice with... from the firearms newbies to the experienced shooter, it can never be brought up enough.

Maybe I should animate this.

I agree. I've had some very eye-opening experiences at the civilian ranges. Apparently there are a lot of people out there that either haven't had a firearms safety course or didn't learn anything in it.

Why not post the story and hope he sees it? ;-P

DEA agent detective Griffin is out there somewhere. He was young all of those years ago and threatened me during an unnecessary traffic stop. WHEN someone posts that they know the city/state where he is, I'll post my story and not until then. More than likely the story will never be posted, but I don't care. He was in the Meridian, MS area about 1992. He may still be there for all I know.

I know this might not be the popular opinion around here, but I’m impressed that he didn’t cry, and call an ambulance. That’s what I would have done. ;o) Instead, he acted composed and the kids didn’t panic.

Other than that, he’s a real doofus for shooting himself in the foot while giving a gun safety class.

"...but I’m impressed that he didn’t cry"

That's true. But he did go cryin' to a lawyer when folks made sport of the video. Luckily, all that jackwagon got was a box of tissues from the Judge.
