The state Department of Revenue plans to hike the 2011 penalty by about 9 percent for residents who are able to afford health insurance but fail to buy it.
Taxpayers ages 18 to 26 whose income exceeds $32,496 will see the penalty increase to $864, up from $792. For those ages 27 and older whose income exceeds $32,496, the penalty will rise to $1,212 annually, up from $1,116.
The fee, adjusted annually, doubles if two parents are in the family.

They would pay the same $ amount in fines if they weren’t married and each wasn’t paying for individual coverage.

Not worth the cost of the rope it would take to hang them. You've got to buy in bulk, my man. It is always worth the cost and effort. Let the games begin!

Wait until you get single payer. Then everyone pays irrespective of income.

These political di*k heads dont have an effing clue what it costs to live in the real world. But they get elected anyway. Therein lies the problem.

"It sickens me to read this - the government deciding what somebody can afford"Financial aid in college does this all the time. Even christian private colleges. Soon they will be mandating you attend P.E. class every morning. They will tell you what to eat, what to wear, and how to talk. And in 10 years, you'll have to face Mecca while doing so. Yes, that will arrive unless we violently overthrow this bums.
Lock n' Load.

They are on track with making it so miserable earn a living and stay above water that they think we will all be ready for a complete socialization of America before long.
I'm 64 and I think we may see it while I'm alive. We've known for years that we can't keep going like this, yet no one will can stand up to stop it.

I have a question... who gets to decide if a citizen can “afford” health insurance? Is it strictly income-based, or does some bureaucrat get to thumb through your financial records and make an arbitrary ruling?

Not worth the cost of the rope it would take to hang them. Well, I'm willing to chip-in a Home Depot gift card just the same. Guess I'm just a spendthrift when it comes to certain things.

The “Scott Brown Republican” is just as worthy of blame.
