I hate to tell y’all, but cabrito is might tasty. It has long been popular in parts of the South (because it’s a thrifty animal and sheep, the main meat competitor, are hard to raise in tropical climates), and now that there are an increasing number of Caribbean immigrants, it has become even more popular.

I know of goat breeders that sell male kids for meat. That isn’t shocking.

The fact that the goat appeared malnourished was disturbing. The creature one intends to eat isn’t usually starved before slaughter.
