Just wondering if anyone else out there is spending the evening alone. Not necessarily a bad thing. I'm sipping a cappuccino and taking in "A Christmas Story" in the old man cave. I'll be with family tomorrow, but as of tonight, it's my faithful Boxer and me. And Ralphie.
Hey! Merry Christmas!
Grudges and anger served a person back when competitive human interaction meant life or death, starvation or exile.
Those instincts are just artifacts now, like the appendix.
Harboring anger and resentment only attracts the bad spirits to you.
Once I rightfully ‘got even’ with someone who deserved it and it did more to damage me - and certainly them - than if I had just risen above and forgot it, if not forgiven.
Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord... getting vengeance for yourself might wind up being a lot more destructive, as patient men are slow to anger, but tend to cause more earthquakes than the situation calls for.
Good to get that computer up and running.
I know that feeling, when FReeRepublic is not up I don’t know what to do with myself!!
Merry Christmas!
Agreed, and Merry Christmas!
So, do you remember Volney Warner and his determined approach to military drill and fitness then? I laughed my head off seeing guys that hadn’t seen the front side of a desk in nigh on 15 years trying to run two miles per day.
Going between North Fort and McChord when the Huey pilots were practicing was really interesting, though. Some guys were, well, in need of a lot of practice.
On the other hand, I never could tell the difference between Div Arty night firing and earthquakes. We had plenty of both, though.
I ate my first and only sea snail while there, probably in some little Vietnamese restaurant in Spanaway or something. At a restaurant. I thought it was going to come out my nose, it was so bad. One of the worst things to eat on the face of the earth.
Do you remeber the name of the head shop with the monkey? That place was like no other store I have ever been in, and that’s saying something.
You are quite the Bill.
I think I will break open a Duck Horn Three Palm or a Diamond Rock Volcanic Hill Gravely 97’ tomorrow in honor of your excellent taste(even though you didn’t tell us what you are drinking)
Merry Christmas!
and leave those cookies! They are for the old man.
i did spend part of it alone.
I am truly sorry to hear. I hope you will find the strength in your heart to forgive and more importantly, move onwards. Including, celebrating a merrier Christmas next year.
I’ll tune in! :-)
There is nothing quite like being able to log in once more — especially after being out for so long! When it happens to me, the first place I come is here to FR. It is the pitts to be out of touch, and I know how you feel, as do many here I’m sure.
Your home page is especially moving tonight.
How old is your Boxer? And is that his name?
Merry Christmas to you!
And Happy New Year!
You are lucky to not just have the daughters back for the holiday, but to have such wonderful daughters who serve this country.
Thank you!!!!!
If they are driving you nuts, they have won. Don’t let them win. I’m not talking about revenge, but not letting the actions of another destroy your own happiness.
Working!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Chinese restaurants are often open, but nothing else.
By the way, today I stopped at a Taco Bell. They had Christmas decorations everywhere, including a manger scene. The girl at the counter said Merry Christmas. Very nice! I'll be returning.
Anyway, Merry Christmas all!
God Bless you, your Wife and your family.
Your wife knows you are there and your touch is all she needs to be assured of your love.
My mother has Alzheimer's too. She is temporarily going to an assisted living place on Monday so my Dad can have a week off. It's just about gotten the best of him. I do the best I can to help, but I work. My mother now thinks I'm her sister, but she still knows my Dad. We opened presents tonight and she seemed to be more "with us" than recently, it was nice.
My prayers go with you, I can imagine how hard it's been. Merry Christmas and GOD bless you!
I am not even a Christian and yet feel the spirit of this season. Me and my wife were watching Ben Hur last night (finished half). Alone tonight traveling. Hope to finish the rest tomorrow with her back home.
Merry Christmas.
