With Christmas almost here I want to find a special "Grace" to say before dinner.
Apart from the one we said at catholic school - "Bless us O Lord for these Thy gifts..."etc., I found this one by Robbie Burns:-
O Thou who kindly dost provide
For every creature's want.
We bless Thee, God of nature wide,
For all Thy goodness lent:
And if it please Thee, Heavenly Guide,
May never worse be sent;
But, whether granted, or denied,
Lord, bless us with content. Amen!
Do Freepers have any favorites?
must be very bored
For this day of the dear Christ’s birth,
for its hours of home gladness and world gladness,
for the love within these walls, which binds us together as a family,
for our food on this table,
for our surroundings in a land of freedom,
we bring to Thee, our Father, our heartfelt gratitude.
Bless all these, Thy favours, to our good,
in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Our “Restaurant Grace”:
“Bless this food to our use, O Lord, and us to Thy loving service. In Christ’s name, Amen”.
I always ask a special blessing on the hands that prepared the food God provided and the hands that serve it, also ask for God to bless the conversation at the meal
Not as grandiloquent as one might like for Christmas, though.
Grace passed away 30 years ago
Your cat is hungry, go feed it.
The eyes of all look to You, O Lord, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
Lord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these Your gifts which we receive from Your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Bless this food you’ve provided for me,
delivery was late so I got it for free.
I’m using that on Saturday...
BTW, A very Merry Christmas to all. I hope your Christmas is fulfilling and a very memorable one.
Uncle Ralph’s Grace.
mmummble mummble mummble...mumble. Amen.
Uncle Ralph was a wonderful, Godly man, but, he had a hearing problem and didn’t speak clearly.
How bout the Johnny Appleseed song?
Good drink,
Good meat,
Good Lord,
Let’s eat.
Rub-a-Dub, Dub,
Thanks for the Grub,
Yea, God!
Thank you God for this food we are about to receive and bless it to our bodies. In Jesus Holy name, Amen.
Come Lord Jesus, be our guest...
And let thy gifts to us be blessed...
Let this food be a nourishment and blessing to our bodies...
Amen!
