60-day waiting period before DADT repealed

The military's policy toward gay and lesbian soldiers is not going to change right away -- not until the White House receives certification from top military commanders that states they are ready for open service.

Politico reports there will still be a waiting period of 60 days before the ban is actually overturned.

The Senate voted Saturday to end Don't Ask Don't Tell, the military's ban on gays in the military. The vote was 65 to 31. Eight Republicans joined with Democrats to repeal the 17-year-old policy.

Now there are questions about what new training the Department of Defense will roll out to get troops ready for the repeal, what administrative changes will have to be made, and how much time will it take.

In the meantime, advocates of repealing DADT want President Obama to order that no service members be discharged until the ban goes away.

Politico cites a new study by the Palm Center makes the case that DoD should be able to change the policy in only a few weeks. The report stated that DoD begins implementing policy changes all of the time, prior to making changes in training procedures. It took DoD about 40 days to implement Don't Ask, Don't Tell in 1994, according to the Palm research.

This gives the new GOP congress plenty of time to protect our soldiers from forced indoctrination. They should pass legislation forbidding any forced training program promoting or condoning homosexuality. They may not be able to exclude homosexuals just for the knowledge they are homosexuals (most expulsions under DADT were for inappropriate behavior) but they can stop the civil service military bureaucrats from turning the military into an indoctrination camp and having our soldiers marching in obscene gay pride parades. They can also explicitly ban gay activism in the ranks and require that heterosexual soldiers privacy be respected in showering and sleeping quarters. Also they should forbid any discipline because of expressions of anti-homosexual sentiments.

They still need to repeal certain parts of the UCMJ to facilitate certain activity that is currently illegal..

The next Congress must also refuse to even consider any changes to UCMJ Article 125, which expressly forbids sodomy.

Get on the horn to your Representatives and DEMAND that they introduce, sponsor and push through a measure the will leave the determination of who serves in OUR military, to those that are directly affected by these decisions.

Nobody who has never served should have a say in these matters.

I for one will do everything in my power to see that those that voted to allow homosexuals to serve in our military are run out of office.

Maybe the repeal won’t officially happen for sixty days but I think gays and lesbians will begin right away to feel free to open up about their sexuality. They know they’re not going to be kicked out now.

Also, homosexuals are now a discrete group of service members with a large, aggressive and well funded lobbying group acting on their behalf to advance their interests. Is there another group of service members who has that? I don’t think so.

Wow. Gay closet republican RINOs? Blackmail? ... paging Ann Coulter's tolerance for gay republicans?

Oxymorons abound.

Hmmmm, let's see here....

So...lots and lots of gays join the military.

In order to satisfy the demands of the ACLU and the congress
1. all branches of the military convert to "uni-sex" uniforms for all "soldiers", and "airmen" and "marines", and "sailors";
2. Most of the straight members of the military leave the forces
3. The new congress repeals the new law over the veto of the little tin god and re-establishes the DADT policy.

Now.....

How do we get back all those wonderful troops who left the military?

We can send the uni-sex uniforms to France for their military.

But what do we do with all them thar gay troops????

I’m not liking the sound of that.

Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins have had a long gay relationship and the other 6 have bisexual desires. At least that’s the rumor I’m spreading (no pun intended).

This will be our greates undoing. I resent Secretary GaYts for this and for the leadership of the GOP who sold out. The public does not want this and I can guarantee you the troops do not. Nameless Sureveys specifically done nameless so they could simply say whatever outcome they want is criminal.

Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe and Lisa Murkowski are no more “Republican” than Chuckie Schumer.

When is the Republican party finally going to throw these twits out ?

Was imagining the same and worse. Gay soldiers in uniform; walking hand-in-hand and expressing their 'sentiments'. . .seeing them dancing in uniform together in public places in foreign countries. . .being openly affectionate around other soldeiers. It all makes me sick to think what is being brought down on our Military. Communist Party USA celebrating; and that should say enough for every American and American soldier.

And if none of this and 'more'; is 'not' to happen; then what was the purpose of allowing 'openly Gay' - without the behavior?

Republicans (term used loosely) voting for DADT
Brown (R-MA)
Burr (R-NC)
Collins (R-ME)
Ensign (R-NV)
Kirk (R-IL)
Murkowski (R-AK)
Snowe (R-ME)
Voinovich (R-OH)
Republicans Not Voting:

Bunning (R-KY)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hatch (R-UT

Every one of these RINOs should be held accountable for this attrocity. If there are any here from the states they represent; those people should make sure these turncoats feel the heat of the American people. People in their home states have the best chances of making the point for all of us.

I pray that military advisors and personnel have the fortitude to stand up in this sixty day waiting period and stop this abomination in it’s tracks.

Meanwhile, I’m laying plans to help in the effort to unseat or nuetralize the votes of those eight Republicans who made this possible. If they aren’t brought to see what they have done is unacceptable, then this won’t be the only Republican effort they will sabotage in the next two years. If Republican values are to be upheld, then there is no place in the Party for these people. Cameleon politicians have no real values and are more dangerous to the interests of America than the opposing Democrats by far.

The Democratic effort for Obama’s agenda so far is to “give away the farm” to anyone and everyone who would weaken and bring down America, which includes illegals, muslim extremists, terrorists, any hostile foreign government,(Russia and Iran) and sexual perverts.

It’s got to end, sooner rather than later.

Murkowski (R-AK)

I am sure there is quite a few gay owned coffee houses in Anchorage having a party in this sellouts name.

Ironically quite a few Miller haters are doing U-turns and now have some major voter remorse.

Alaska has a sizable military population and I would say that Lease A Murkowski won’t be particularly welcomed at any of the basis in the near future.
