I’m going to assume that it couldn’t possibly be any worse than the original...

I watched the original Tron and didn’t understand a thing and was totally lost. This one looks even more confusing to me so I have no intention of seeing it.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/ is your friend! Their combined rating is < 50%, which suggests that it's not that good.

I've heard that the special effects are good, but the story is terrible.

I guess if you loved the original movie, you will probably want to see it. I wasn't impressed with the original, so I'll wait for it to show up on cable.

I have not seen Tron, but if it's playing in your area I HIGHLY recommend "127 Hours". It's one of the best movies I have seen in a LONG time. The kid who stars in the lead puts on an absolutely tour de force performance. It's unreal - not for the squeamish, either.

It might be hard to find. I live in a pretty good sized metro-ara (Miami) and it's only playing in one theater here.

Yes, many people have seen it.
According to box office totals,
Tron Legacy took in $3.4 million
from midnight showings on 12/17.

It didn’t get a good review in the WSJ today. I have seen the previews a number of times, and it struck me as very PC.

However, this is only a $10.00 investment, so if it stinks, walk out. If it doesn’t, stay and enjoy it. And in either case, go out for dinner or at least drinks or dessert afterwards. Enjoy - and post a review here if you go to it!

Yes went and seen it last night at 12:01. Was it worth it. Not sure, Special effects rate a 10. story line rates a 3. was it entertainment- yes I actually enjoyed it, not as political as Avatar but the Hollywierd crowd still politics into it. As in the programs need to get free from the users. Long 5 minutes speech by CLU about how users have everything and how the programs have to break the chains of slavery, blah blah woof woof.

Hope this helps

From Decentfilms.com:

If Tron: Legacy were one slam-bang set piece after another, there would be a case for ignoring everything else and focusing on the whiz and the bang. Unfortunately, after a leisurely real-world prologue and a big first-act gladiatorial sequence, the movie comes to a crashing halt—and never really gets going again prior to the stumbling, muddled climax. In between, we’re left with plot and characters, and there’s no getting away from the movie’s failure.

Look. I’m not saying you can’t enjoy Tron: Legacy as eye candy if you want to. But don’t come to me making excuses like “Hey, Avatar was all empty eye candy too.” In terms of plot and character appeal, Tron: Legacy makes Avatar look like Raiders of the Lost Ark. Well, okay, not Raiders, but at least Romancing the Stone. Cameron is a master manipulator, and Avatar sucks you in from the get-go. Sully’s emotional journey is eminently relatable, there’s a hissable villain, and a world that you fall in love with.

I heard a review with this guy on the radio this morning and the take I got was that it sucked...

I read an interview with the maker, apparently they tried to give a more real-world feel to it. For example, the lights on the suits aren’t CGI anymore, but actually lighted suits.

I went to see it with some pals at the drive-in. One of the guys in the back seat decided to turn around and watch Saturday Night Fever (sans sound) because it was more interesting.

Spandex, black light, techno music and frisbee fights.

If you’re into one of those things, you’ll like it.

If you’re into all of those things, you’ll think it’s a classic.

My daughter and hubby want to see this movie. We even got out the old Tron so we could remember want the story was about.

Daughter can’t wait to see Bruce Boxliner on the screen. She grew up with Babylon 5 and loved Captain Sheridan.

I figure she will see him some in the beginning, but that will be it.

Is Tron even still in the computer??
