Alice Cooper, Darlene Love, Neil Diamond in (Rock and Roll) Hall (of Fame)

Neil Diamond had been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for several years but never got a nomination to join music's prestigious club. But he was never really worried about it....

Posted this as a bit of an expanded/follow-up to a previously posted article about the inductees (found here).

What I found interesting was the list of artists nominated but not inducted this year: Bon Jovi (1st time nomination), LL Cool J, the J. Geils Band, the Beastie Boys, Donna Summer and more.

Aside from the acts that have absolutely nothing to do with rock (LL Cool J? LOL!), the one that really stands out to me is the J. Geils Band. I know a lot of people only remember them for their MTV swan song days (Centerfold, Freeze Frame, etc.), but in their 70's heyday they were, IMHO one of the best blues-rock bands of all time. Magic Dick Salwitz's performance on "Whammer Jammer" alone oughta get them a nod!

Saw him 41/2 years ago at a 188 year old theater. My wife was 8 months pregnant and not a big fan before the show but she was after! He’s a gearhead, too!

I agree; however, It’s great to see Alice Cooper get his due. Do you realize how many great Heavy Metal performers list Alice among their top influences?
