Posted this as a bit of an expanded/follow-up to a previously posted article about the inductees (found
here).
What I found interesting was the list of artists nominated but not inducted this year: Bon Jovi (1st time nomination), LL Cool J, the J. Geils Band, the Beastie Boys, Donna Summer and more.
Aside from the acts that have absolutely nothing to do with rock (LL Cool J? LOL!), the one that really stands out to me is the J. Geils Band. I know a lot of people only remember them for their MTV swan song days (Centerfold, Freeze Frame, etc.), but in their 70's heyday they were, IMHO one of the best blues-rock bands of all time. Magic Dick Salwitz's performance on "Whammer Jammer" alone oughta get them a nod!

Way to go, Vince 'Alice Cooper' Furnier! The guy is a Republican, born-again Christian, and restaurateur. Good for him.

What is shameful that groups like Deep Purple and Rush are not in ! But yet, the freak Michael Jackson and Madonna are in and their music really sucks !

I love Neil Diamond songs. I was under 10 when he was popular, but the tunes are still singable. Also, back in the day, he wrote songs that made women feel desired and valued, and sang them with a man’s voice. Who does that today?
