Hey gearheads and interested parties: any feedback on this Dropbox thing? Has it been out there long enough to be trusted? You know, stuff like that.
I use it and love it, I love how you can drag a file from explorer drop it on your drop box and it’s there, very cool, works great.
My son is trying to get me to use it to move items between my Droid, iPad, laptop, and desktop. He works on security software at a major bank and generally avoids software he feels is unsafe. So I consider it to be vetted. I just haven’t had time to get connected to it.
Absolutely love it!
If I’m out, and have a document that I really dont want to loose, or dont want to have to go through the trouble of having to email it to myself, it’s as easy as just saving it right to my Dropbox folder and it’s synced to any other machine I have setup on the same account. Any changes I make to it are automatically saved too.
I dont save anything confidential to it though. I’m just paranoid like that.
Ugh...I mean lose.
I have just started using it recently and I think it is great. You can share files with friends and family across the globe.
Very, very handy.
I don’t use automatic transfers, I use this and manually sync things. JMHO
Regards
I use it and love it. But like many other great apps that start out as free it will probably become NOT free.
Anyone have experience with box.net? Sounds like a similar service... flipping a coin on which one to use.
Love Dropbox!
Been using it for a while now, love it!
I share files on four computers using Dropbox. I couldn’t do without it!!!!!!!!!
We use it works ok.
We used it to transfer the info from our old computer to the new one.
Everyone knows you don't use Dropbox to deal with loose documents, you use duct tape.
Thanks for the feedback.
Just one silly question: it's the "synch" thing that makes me a little nervous. I don't mind keeping files somewhere easy to reach, but "synching" complicates things for me. I presume this 'synching' is one-way? That is, only changes I make from my maching govern the file? If some other bozo deletes an important like, does it automatically ruin my life?
Of course I could find this on the site, but it would take a half a day...
Thanks in advance. I luv U.
Oy. Practicing my Freddie Prinze impression.
“like” = line. Double Oy.
