CONCORD A local woman thought she was shot after a TV came crashing down onto her car Tuesday as she drove out of the Capitol Commons garage.
Police are looking for a man who heaved the older model TV from the fifth floor of the 75 Storrs St. garage, sending it crashing into a 2010 Kia Forte being driven by Kaleena Guzman, 20.
Guzman, who is the office and events manager at Red River Theatres, had just left work about 6 p.m. She had borrowed her 16-year-old sister's brand new 2010 Kia Forte and was heading out of the 75 Storrs St. garage when the TV came smashing into the passenger side. TV fling
She was about to pull out of the garage and had turned her head to the left to look out for traffic when she heard a "huge explosion and there was glass in my lap and all over my car."
She looked over to the passenger side to see the window completely gone.
"At that moment I thought I had been shot," she said. "I thought someone was trying to kill me. I was freaking out."
She began checking herself over, looking for a bullet hole. Finding none and seeing a car behind her, she pulled the Kia across the street to get out of the other car's way and then got out.
"Luckily there was this gentleman who witnessed everything," she said. He told her someone had heaved the TV from the top of the parking garage and pointed to the TV which was in the middle of the road.
"I was in complete shock," she said. Guzman said she knows no one who would want to harm her.
The TV caused at least $1,600 in damage to the car but Guzman said her sister is just grateful Guzman wasn't hurt.
Things could have been worse, she said, had there been a passenger in the car or had the TV landed on the driver's side.
"I am very thankful to be here today," said Guzman.
Investigators believe the "act of extreme violence" was completely random, according to Lt. Keith Mitchell.
The television was a heavy, older model, not a light-weight, flat panel TV, which police believe was removed from a trash bin.
"It was a pretty good size TV," Mitchell said.
Police released photographs and video taken from surveillance recordings of the man carrying the television. The man, who police describe as in his late teens or early 20s, is wearing a black hooded sweatshirt or jacket with a design of a cross on the back.

This yute must have been bored, grabbed an old TV someone was throwing out, and decided to heave it from the top of the parking garage. Imagine what it would have been like to be this woman, and if she had left a couple seconds earlier maybe she’d be dead now..
...maybe he was just re-creating the start of this old TV show.

It was tuned to CNN.
16 year old with a brand new car? Call me old fashioned, but....
Of course, it was just a Kia
>>Of course, it was just a Kia
Let’s see, $50 buck a month lease... :)
btw I have been known to visit Concord and know where that garage is; just down the street is the Museum of N.H.
History (and the State House of course!) I think nearby they have plaques set in the ground mentioning the winner of the N.H. Primary for each party over the years, and also there’s
the (Christa) McAuliffe-(Alan) Sheppard Discovery Ctr, a good
science museum.
Right. $1,600 may pay for the paint booth. If there's any roof frame damage or dashboard damage, much much more.
TV’s don’t kill people, people do!
Glad no one was hurt in this incident.
“Of course, it was just a Kia”
The story made it sound like the car was destroyed.. Only 1600 in damages. Oh wait...kia..
SCTV fan?
... or the Mother Ship?
GEORGE: MY CAR! MY CAAAARRR!
Hahahahahaha!
TV is bad for your eyes...and the rest of your anatomy.
Ha, just kidding about how Kias probably don’t cost too much :)
