Brooklyn Dodgers football team? I never knew.
Anyway, thanks for posting these old newspaper clippings. They are great stuff.

Should be a good game. The Redskins won the last meeting 7-3. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw the numbers 7 and 3 in this next meeting.

Tip for next weeks game: go with the Bears. You can safely bet the ranch on the Bears. Even if you have go give a whole lot of points. And I got that straight from my cousin, whose car mechanic is dating the sister of a guy who hangs out with the Bears' locker room attendant.

I don’t bet on sports anymore. There was a definitive game that was the direct cause of this.
In 1996 I was going to Vegas for a weekend when a co-worker of mine gave me 100 dollars and asked me to put it on a football game for him. He wanted me to put it on Rutgers in their game against Notre Dame. The point spread was Rutgers +63 which was an insane number of points to give an underdog in any case. I put 100 of my own on it as well and sat in the sports book to watch the game.
I then proceeded to go completely insane as every time the Fighting Irish touched the ball they scored. In the end Notre Dame won the game 62-0. I had won the bet because they didn’t cover the spread and yet I was completely miserable and stressed out. I came to the conclusion that the book makers really know what they are doing and it was a coin flip any time you bet on sports.
