We’ve had about 1/3 inch of rain and they are predicting more.

I don’t think there is very much that hail would damage at this time. There may be some truck farms with produce growing but I don’t think there are very many.

I remember that! A beautiful white Christmas for you back then. I’ll bet it melted pretty quickly. It seems our first inch here is still around in March. I love the animated snowflakes!

Common Standards
December 29, 2010

In the frenzied early days of the Internet, Web developers were making up their own rules. The result was confusion. Among the problems was that what looked good on one computer was unreadable on another. This caused developers to refer to the Internet as the wild, wild Web, an allusion to the days of the wild, wild West in the US when law and order were pretty much nonexistent. To bring order out of chaos, Web developers started calling for others to agree on common standards.

Their plea reminds us of why it was important for the Israelites to have laws to live by when they left Egypt (Deut. 4:1). Without them, there would be anarchy. With them, however, they would have a system that was so superior that it would demonstrate to other nations the greatness of their God (v.8).

Today, to bring order out of the chaos of our sinful, selfish world, believers submit to the law of Christ (Gal. 6:2), who Himself is the fulfillment of the law (Matt. 5:17). When we submit to the standard established by Christ and love others as God loves us, we will live in peace with one another and thus provide a witness to the world of how great God is.

Let us go forth, as called of God,
Redeemed by Jesus’ precious blood;
His love to show, His life to live,
His message speak, His mercy give. —Whittle

The world will know by our love for God and others
that He is great.

Read: Deuteronomy 4:1-10

What great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments? —Deuteronomy 4:8

Well, it is headed here! This is a massive storm system (quoting a meteorologist), and Phoenix is going to drop to the low 30s tonight, 29 tomorrow night. Snow will cover the state down to 2,000 feet. Parts of Phoenix area will see snow, with this one. (We are expecting over a foot accumulation, here in Sedona, and Flagstaff is getting dumped on, right now.)

I’m ahead of you, Meg. I’ve got the refrigerator stocked, and the outdoor faucets are wrapped with insulation. Later today, I will cover my plants with an insulated ‘blanket’.

I got a rack of baby back ribs to cook on New Year’s Day, with Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. I’ve made that every year for over 40 years - on Jan. 1, just as my German grandma did, and my mother did. It wouldn’t be ‘right’ to have anything else. LOL!

I’m so glad you had a good visit with your family. More good memories to bring smiles through out the year!

I'm going to pick up where I left off last night. :)

Thanks, Pam - I agree about the ice and snow being very pretty, but I honestly don't enjoy being out in it for very long. Here is an absolutely breathtaking and exquisite ice sculpture I used in an opening thread a few years ago. I can't imagine the hours and hours it took to create it.

I want to come to your house for New Year’s!
I am not a sauerkraut fan though I’d probably like yours..I am well stocked up, too. It won’t freeze again til Sunday.

At least I got to have a fire in the fireplace yesterday..It was a pretty scene in my living room, dining room for a rainy day.
I won’t take down decorations until New Year’s..
My red tulips did not last long enough for my son and DIL’s visit..but I will get them again next year..They looked so festive at Christmas.
