I have an LG VX 5600 cell phone. I also have a USB download cable and have installed the 5600 driver to my PC. However, I cannot find anywhere instructions on how to download pictures to my PC. There is no icon to hit to start the process. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks.
Try turning your cell phone off/on, or unplugging the USB then plug it back it. That will usually start up a download session and activate the software.
Firstensure the Usb cableisconnected to both your phone and the PC. Then on your PC open “My Computer” you should see the name of your phone under the devices window. Simply double click the device to brouse for your files. Find your files and then drag and drop them to your PC.

Do you have the photo software for you PC?
The slimy bastages at Verizon have disabled USB transfer of pictures. You have to email the pictures to get them off of the phone.
Have you loaded a program such as bitpim to help you navigate the phone’s directories? It’s a free program and you already have the driver so you should be all set.
Doesn’t work. When I plug-in phone I get New Hardware and New Software bubbles, then nothing appears on My Computer.
I have a Samsung phone and it requires an optional memory card. As is there is no storage device to recognize.
Or maybe if your phone has a Micro SD card you could plug it in to a USB port using an adapter. I have one and do simple transfers that way. I have an LG VX8600 and mostly use BitPim with my cable for transfers of Pics and homemade ringtones.
I have a Verizon phone plan and the only way I can download pictures is to Send the pictures to my Verizon page online photo album. So it’s a button function on my phone when I access my collection of pictures on the phone. It’s listed under Options.
The latest BitPim doesn't support the LG VX5600 unfortunately.
Kewl. Does it work with Verizon or only the crappy AT&T network?
It will work (at least partially; for pictures) if you force BitPim to phone type VX-9100
Probably so. I’m sure there are a number of crossover compatibilities. I just go by what’s in the Bitpim database.
You want to tell me what you linked to, because it is under your MyVerizon login. (Or you can give my your MyVerzion username and password so I can see your link...)

Called Pix Place and it is free
My favorite price!!
I wasn't aware that the OP's question involved Verizon or AT&T. Must have missed that one.
But to the OP's question, when I plug my iPhone up to my iMac, iPhoto opens with a window showing photos on my iPhone taken since my last connection with the option to import all or selected photos. No big deal, right.
However, the exact same thing happens when I plug in my Canon digital camera and the card from my game camera.
IOW, it just works and that's the message I was attempting to convey to the OP.
(FWIW, ol' dan, I have it from the highest sources that Verizon will have the iPhone in Jan. 2011. Do you have any more snarky remarks?)
